I do the same thing sometimes. I even throw some punches while running sometimes (limbs or leaves in my way). I also have points marked out at certain places where I run where I'll quickly drop down and do pushups or something and then continue running. If people look then just start hissing really loud with every punch.

    no there's no point

roadwork is for improving fitness, why hinder it by doing them rocky-type methods?

if you're diong roadwork then push yourself as hard as you can to get your fitness up. then keep your hands up when you do your boxing training

i think dropping down and doing push ups could help, it would be more anaerobic or burpees in the middle of a run would be benificial i think.

Throwing punches while running help you get your breathing right and does tire you out more, i did it at my old trainers gym, it was on a farm so no body was there watching.

my old trainer told me to punch while i ran at his farm.

All i know is if i want to get fit i do burpees, im still in the amatuers so i do 4x3 min rounds of burpees and that **** makes me super fit.

I would have thought running and burpees together would be awesome for fitness..

I do on occasion wear sandbags when i run.

  8. I can't see much use in it.

It'll be bad for staying in good form on the road, the arms play a pretty strong role in running technique in my opinion. I'd just keep them where they're meant to be.

Could injure your lower back aswell.

Roadwork needs to be done a certain way. No ipod, preferable in heavy boots, before 7am.....

i dont see it overly necessary. its really busy where i am. i wont do it for that fact almost alone. theres enough people barking out their windows when you're just running normal
