I would say in recent years Floyd has gone to further lengths to ensure his "o" but, over the course of their careers, Calzaghe has no one on his resume like some of the prime fighters Floyd fought years ago. So, overall.....my answer is Calzaghe......but Floyd's gaining on him.

And don't forget that while Floyd gets criticised for his opponents above 140 you would have say that Judah is better than Lacy, Hatton is probably better than Kessler and you could argue that De La Hoya was just as tough an opponent as the 43 year old Hopkins that Calzaghe fought.

Mayweathers opposition at 140 and 147 is actually pretty decent in itself, it is just that there are better fighter out there for him to face.

I don't care who you fight or where you fight, there has to be something good about you if you're fighting on the biggest stage and have won multiple championship. Both Mayweather and Calzaghe have fought the best opposition out there. For quite some time the super middleweight division was considered weak, it was dominated by Europeans and alot of american super middleweight's were skipping that division.
None of which was a fault of Calzaghe. He fought who they put in front of him and he beat them. The same goes for Floyd ... these guys have had 20 championship fights and have fought at least 10/former -- current champions.

There's also some degrees of seperation involving these two being linked with some of the best fighters of today and ever.

floyd has won titles in 5 weight classes? he has fought the best in every one and dominated...he has far more big wins and quality wins than joe...joe has one **** win over hopkins in an awful fight....and mayweather is a better fighter....this is not close but expected on esb with the hate for PBF

i'm a little shocked by this. Joe is a great fighter, but he hasn't fought near the level that floyd has. granted i see why some people would say that floyd is ducking people know but if you look at it over their careers it isn't even close. Joe was much more protected.

Void is protecting his O. Void is afraid of Pac.

Void Sr. said that he did not want Void, Jr. to fight Pac. He said this right after Pac beat Cotto! No wonder Void is afraid of Pac!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find it hard to agree with the claim that Floyd fought the best at 5 weight classes when he hasnt even fought any of the top 3 or 4 at WW. That being said, he does get a lot of hate on ESB, but its a toss up whether he gets more than Calzaghe or not.

Do you really think "protected" is the right word here?

Wouldn't it seem more realistic that nobody in the US had ever heard of Calzaghe up until a few years ago and a fight with him wouldnt be worth the risk for such a small payday?

Or is it that Calzaghe and his camp were scared of everyone and didnt want to lose?

Out of the two I find it very hard to believe the latter.

Probably a bit of both. Its hard to go 10+ years as champ and have as few meaningful fights as JC did and have it be entirely "their fault".

Hate to say it but Joe's

I'm a big Calzaghe fan but Frank Warren is a **** end

Probably not Joe's fault but he COULD have been an ATG

Problem with Floyd and the rest of the world is they 2 concerned about a loss
People seem 2 think that if a fighter has lost that suddenly he is "exposed":patsch

Imagine if the JLC 1 fight the judges scored it the other way and floyd lost.
(i feel Floyd won a close fight)
It would of been the best decsion for boxing fans because now he wouldnt be scared 2 loose his 0 and would fight everyone and test himself then we and Floyd would be able 2 see how great he really is

I think Calzaghe is no cherrypicker.
