It's a shame, because Jermain actually looked really good even though he lost to Abraham.

But it was a brutal KO, in the late rounds. He really should take some time off, even if he does decide to come back.

Always think of my boyz at Eastside first! :good

I feel bad for JT. A real class act. Great person for the sport and a huge heart. But it is the right choice due to his injuries. I dont think he will ever return, but wish him the best luck.

Best boxing news I've heard all week. I'm glad JT made this decision. Now, he said he'll only take time off, here is to hoping he retire for good. His wins against hopkins are more than enough to justify JT as one of the best fighters in the last 5 years, regardless of the knockout losses. Props to him cause he is willing to fight everybody. I hope he retires for good. He made some good money, manage it wisely and keep your brain cells intact.

I'll never forget that arm dance he does before each fight. Is that an arkansas thing???

Pantera - where'd you get that from? Press release mailed to you? Nothing's up on Taylor's website or twitter.

I hope Green does, but if I was a betting man I would put my money on Bika. If a 100% confident well trained Green shows up he can win. But when is the last time we saw that?

The winner is just going to take Taylor's place as the biggest underdog. Does this mean that the winner will fight Andre Ward still?

Jesus that's a shame, I would have like to have seen how Taylor would have got on in the rest of the tournament, but of course his health comes first.

Hope this doesn't ruin the tournament. It's going to complicate things with the fighter coming in only having two fights to try to qualify to the semis. Plus if we're waiting for another fight to decide who gets the spot it could further delay an already extended schedule.

Yes, Andre Ward will be the replacement's opponent. Unfortunately this played against Edison Miranda getting a rematch with Allan Green to fight for this spot. Showtime didnt want to have the possible rematch happen, and I cant blame them.

Bute is with HBO, so he won't be in this tournament. People need to forget about him in the Super Six.

one of my favorite fighters. class act in and out of the ring. always gave his opponent credit when credit was due. always fought the best. its a shame that all champs don't have the sack to fight the caliber of fighters jermain has....all in a ****ing row...

go kick your feet up champ, you deserve it :thumbsup

    thanks for the info pantera

I think Bika will get that spot.
If a 160 lb Miranda gave Green all he could handle no way inhell does Green take what Bika will ahve. Headbutts chin and relentless powershots.
hopefully we get good odds. Bika by TKO in the mid-late rounds

Well damn. I'm sure it was a tough choice, but I think Taylor made the right decision. Continuing to fight on, especially against top level competition, could have been harmful to his health.

This fight is 50/50 in my eyes. I see the fight potentially playing out in many different ways. Either way, I don't see either of these guys making an impact on the tournament.
