You can't think of anybody that Calzaghe could have fought other than who he did fight? So the list of second and third class fighters that make up the majority of his resume represent the best available fighters for the duration of JC's career?

Calazghe got around to cleaning out his divison and then went up to LHW to fight the Ring Champion. Who was there left for him to fight when he retired?

    Nice try. Very cliche.
Rather than make a list (Julian Jackson, Glen Johnson, Dawson, Tarver, McClellan, Hopkins, Jones Jr, etc..... Let's just leave it at every top world class prime fighter for the vast majority of his career......unless of course, you think they are/were inferior to the Veit's and Sobot's and Thornberry's of the world. I doubt that the best fighters are only the ones that come to Wales and fight JC. (Not ragging on Wales, mind you, I'm part Welsh.)
Of course, no fighter can fight everyone out there. But, you can't possibly use the argument that the best guys out there were the guys he fought, and that's what it sounds like to me.
I've stated earlier that I don't think it was entirely JC's fault that he didn't fight top guys in their prime.......but it's also not entirely their fault either. Somewhere in the middle. Plenty of reasons fights don't happen.
Was JC protected? Sure..... Was he protecting himself? I don't know. I wasn't there. But, my money would be on Warren.
But, in the end, you fought who you fought and that is how you are measured.

Void is so obvious about protecting his 0. Calzaghe fought Lacy while Lacy was considered to be the best. Calzahge came to America and beat Jones and Hopkins!

Now Farmy...... we know how you feel about Void..... and he is definitely protected that "o" full time, but you can't point out that JC took on and whooped up on one bigtime hype baby and two forty year olds and use that as evidence that he wasn't protected. If that were applied to any other fighter, it would be kind of the opposite..... don't you think?

Come on man, you got to be stupid to think that. Calzaghe has been in one division ALL of his career and didn't unify till the rest of the champions DEMAND to make these fights. He didn't even dominate that division till the rest ENFORCED such unification fights, guys like Lacy and Kessler came out of the blue and held BETTER titles that Calzaghe's WBO when Calzaghe was making his 17th or 18th title defense, come on man. Mayweather has won championships in FIVE weight divisions and lineal titles in 3, can't ****ing cherry pick accomplishing that even if ALL promoters and managers were ALL associated into cherry picking for him to succeed, seriously.

Calzaghe then attempts to get the lineal title one weight division above by going to America to beat Hopkins, that is not cherry picking and I will agree here but most of his career consists of cherry picking no matter how hard you will try to justify it. Mayweather might have done the cherry picking once he became a big name, most athletes do but to reach that spot he worked hard for it and ran into fighters WAY bigger than him. Calzaghe never attempted anything and didn't give a damn about how he's unknown all over including England and Wales because he didn't give a damn, then he comes and bashes on Warren which is pure bull****. Warren got him good fights like he got Hatton and Khan and many before them, Calzaghe never wanted to travel. Even his move to America is questionable, when Hopkins and Jones were younger he claimed it's ridiculous to move up when he's the WBO champion even though the rest were far more recognized, unified and accomplished but all of a sudden it made sense when Hopkins was over 40 and Jones was beyond shot so even that, despite being decent wins, is questionable. The Jones win is crap, no one can fire back at that but the Hopkins win is quality and I can't deny it despite Hopkins' age.

Overrall Calzaghe is far bigger cherry picker than Mayweather will ever dream of becoming. That's an insult right there to multi weight division champions, how many have accomplished that?, come on.

    :scaredas:

I thought the knowledge in the place was bad - but it stoops to newer levels on a daily basis.

But its a poll. So you have to forgive it.

If there was an ESB poll that said "What is 1 + 1" with the options of a) 2 b) 3 c) 4

B would get 50% of votes.
A would get 30% of votes.
C would get 20% of votes.

As I'm on ESB, I'd probably go for B.
