Indeed. He didn't get as far as he did without some very educated natural ability. Hatton was at one time a very effective fighting machine, and that inside positioning stuff was fun to watch. He was a human pogo in there.
The hate ricky gets is absurd... The guy was a world champion in a sport where 90% of its participents will only DREAM about reaching the heights ricky did, and where most dreams of becoming an undisputed champion of ANY weight are met with disastrious results. Now because the guy lost to the two greatest fighters of our generation hes ****.... meanwhile urango gets props for scraping past bailey and malignaggi is praised up and down for outboxing a guy whos not even a 140lber. People magically forget that Hatton completely dominated and whooped paulies ass not even a year earlier, and a hatton putting in one of his worst performences handily beat Urango. Hatton was a class fighter.... He wasnt great, not by a long shot, but he was very very good fighter within his weightclass, and an undisputed champion for quite awhile.
Ricky is one of the better modern fighters who fight well from the clinch. This is a fairly lost art form and is essential to solid ring generalship if your style is a mauler. Good video, Ricky really stepped up. Admire his balls and his willingness to get in the ring.
He did get far and he is a fighting bull and will always be. Being overpowered and KO'd is NOTHING to count the man off completely, it happened to Frazier, Duran, Hearns, Mosley, Forrest, Pacquiao(even though he was too green and new) and many other legendary world class fighters. The man is hardly done, he just got overpowered, so ****ing what?, at least he made the fight and had the balls to try, right?. If he's not successful against one guy it doesn't mean he's **** against all just like that. Hatton is world class material regardless of what happened against Pac and is not the first world class fighter to be overpowered like that. You don't need to be a Hatton fan to know this. Other current world class fighters this happened to but are running successful are the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, David Haye and whoever else I'm forgetting.
Exactly. He never had to take that fight with Mayweather at 147 and could have protected his 0 at 140. He didn't have to fight Pac either. He was always willing to fight absolutely anyone and for that I have a lot of respect for him.
Ricky was always very fast on his feet. That's what allowed him to close the gap quickly aganst boxers like Mayweather and Malignaggi. Unfortuntely, he also liked to jump on his toes a littlee too much wasting much precious energy. That's why he was so gassed by the end of the Urango fight because he was bouncing around all over the place early in that fight.

Whenever I think of Ricky Hatton, I often wonder how much better would he had been if he had lived a more disciplined lifestyle!
If he was able to maintain weight between fights and had some more tricks up his wizard sleeve he could still be on top - regardless though he is still a great warrior and hes got a great heart.

I mean seeing as its WWE you would think they would stop promoting it as though all their wrestlers would get beaten by a boxer...specially when one ways 300lb+ and the other 147lb. lol. I know its fake... As for Ricky, very good fighter, world class. A- at his best IMO, where he would dominate B level fighters like Mallignagi, Maussa and on his best night win a very tough fight over a game Tsyzu.
