    Patterson UD12 Ibeabuchi.

Patterson is much faster, far better technical, a far better ring general and he packs enough of a punch to get Ike´s respect. I expect Patterson to use his skills and wit to outbox Ibeabuchi pretty clearly. Patterson might be in for a scary moment or two early in the fight but he has a history of getting up and winning.
Ibeabuchi´s terribly overated on here I must add.

the first page of the thread put it good enough , patterson has no chance here.
not a puncher's chance (tua) not a boxers' chance (byrd).
and btw , i saw tua-ibeabuchi at least 3 times and i am not saying ibeabuchi won , but it was a close fight. fights like this should simply be regarded a clear draw / ND.

    :happy

Patterson wasn't blown out by durable, strong, volume punchers like Quarry, Chuvalo, Tommy Jackson, and Bonneva(who nearly stopped Frazier). I really fail to see how Ike is going to just walk through him. I guess a close decision over Tua and a stoppage win in a competitive fight with a cocky still rising Chris Byrd goes along way in the minds of some people. I've seen people pick Ike over prime Tyson, Holyfield, and Ali before...head scratching. He struck me as a Mercer type and a top contender at the time but failed to prove himself beyond that.

Yeah, and I am a pretty big Floyd appreciator....but if he makes it through 3 rounds I would be shocked

Ike Ibeabuchi was skilled in addition to being possibly "uniquely" talented. I've never seen a 235-244 pound man with his explosiveness and stamina combination, plus he had patience, strength, power, speed, and durability. He used excellent fundamentals too. After watching him on the FOTW vs. Tua and Byrd, it will tell me much about a poster if they think Ibeabuchi is an unskilled slugger.

Not an unskilled slugger for me! I can see a slick boxer making him dig deep like Byrd did, but he was a solid blend of size strength and skill that would make him a stiff test for anyone, and likely not a guy anyone would be eager to face. Unfortunately I do think due to his breakdown he left some unanswered questions as to how well he would do on the biggest stage with the bright lights against elite comp and/or whether he could sustain it. He was great IMO, I am just not sure how great he could/would have been.

That's the big question Phil regarding how great /good he could have been if hr hadn't had his health problems. He'd already beaten Tua and Byrd ,two very good wins .Surely a fight with Lewis or Holyfield would have happened. Would have loved to have seen those fight s .

Yeah, the Lewis fight would have been really interesting. I think Ike probably would have been too much for early-2000s Holyfield but I guess we'll never know for sure.

Ibeabuchi vs. Lewis would be interesting. Ibeabuchi vs. Patterson would not be IMO. I wouldn't bet on Patterson to be on his feet 30 seconds into the fight much less bet on him to win.

Who knows ,Lennox was a great fighter of course but would have being holding my breath with him against Ike !

I'm trying to find a way to pick Floyd, but logic tells me not to.
