Bernard Hopkins at middleweight and prime vs Super Six fighters??

Yes, he was 33-0 against nobodies. What does that prove? When he stepped up he was beaten. Repeatedly. Anyone with eyes can see that he was a better fighter in his late 30s than he was in his late 20s.

 

Did you see his "loses" ? I saw some of them. He was just as good back in the day. Problem is, he had no name, no hometown fans and no KO punch, so they highway robbed him all the time. You are probably a Roid Jones fan. Knocking out that old ducker coming off a brutal KO doesn't make him better in his late 3o's. He was life and death with Clinton Woods the fight before that.

 

Sure. He was in some close fights, but didn't get robbed nearly as much as he would have people believe.

Is that supposed to be an insult? Not really that hard to actually check instead of making pointless (not to mention wrong) statements.

And Woods was a damn sight better than most of the people he lost to earlier in his career. As for the fight, I recall Johnson winning a reasonably comfortable points decision, being awarded a UD in Woods' hometown. No doubt if the decision had gone against Johnson this would be another occasion that you'd have down as a robbery, but because he won it was 'life and death'?!

 

I don't remember which fight was it, the first or second were very very close. And Glen got dropped for the only knockdown ih his career. Anyway guys like prime Julio Gonzales, Sven Ottke, prime Omar Shieka are on Woods' level for sure. He was robbed about half his loses in my book, and never lost more than 7-5 when he was young. Against Hopkins he lost every minute of every round.

 

You need to remember Hopkins best wins are all agaisnt Smaller men. Pavlik, De La Hoya, Trinidad. Only Tarver is a big win over a bigger man.

Again I ask when was Hopkins prime. I think he's a more difficult fight now than he was when he faught RJJ.

Prime Hopkins wins this tournament hands down, with only Ward maybe giving him some trouble.

You guys should try and get a copy of Hopkins vs Johnson from 1997, Bernard fought at such a different pace in his prime compared to how he has been for the last 7 or so years.

i pick Abraham to win the super 6 and he isn't the most technical guy in there. he fights alot like Clottey, but opens himself up more and hits alot harder than Bhops, but I'm sure Bhops would read him a mile away and i'd pick Hopkins UD over Abraham. I do think Ward would probably give Hopkins some problems, but i think even Taylor in his prime was faster and more explosive than Ward.

Dirrell doesn't have the strength, pressure, or power to get any respect from Hopkins. a prime Roy Jones, Jr. did beat Bhops, but in the end Hopkins did start to put pressure on Jones, but it was far too late. Ward might eek out a close win over todays version, but no way over a prime version. i also don't think taylor beat hopkins twice, it should of gone one apiece. taylor threw more, but hopkins landed more, maybe the judges were impressed with taylor's aggression. close fights.

to be honest i think even a prime taylor or the one that fought Hopkins would of won the super 6.
