Steve O'Meara 10-0 (2ko's), against opposition unknown (generally), appears to be the latest in a long line of fighters seemingly uninterested in taking on the statistically unimpressive Yassine El Maachi.

O'Meara has pulled out of his Southern Area title fight scheduled for the 12th Feb... No reason given from the fighter who seemingly is treading water with his career.

    Typical. :patsch

Perhaps he can have a rematch with Matt Scriven and move to 11-0

    Please get Yassine in Prizefighter....

Well Kevin did say he'd be surprised if O'Meara would show up...and he ain't says a lot about what's thought of El Maachi.

Hopefully El Maachi still gets the TV date though?

Trouble with El Maachi is that he's the old cliché: "Who needs him?" He's very high risk, but low reward. I was hoping the O'Meara fight would be a bit of a breakthrough for him, with it being live on ITV4 against an undefeated opponent (we know how TV loves that).

Disappointing news. Hopefully it will have a butterfly effect in which something better crops up.

El Maachi needs to be in Prozefighter or he's going to be another talented fighter who disappears- no one has seen the best of him yet.

I thought O'Meara looked awful in his last outing. El Maachi would have went to town on him.

I get the feeling he's going to be one of these "shock-out-of-nowhere" fighters. Someone somewhere will give him a break, by getting him in as a sub at late notice, thinking it'll be easy by having him at that disadvantage, then maybe Yassine will be able upset the apple cart again (just like the Concepcion fight).

Wasn't it O'Meara who appeared in that video somewhere, where he was sparring Khan and handling him pretty easily just before the Barrera fight?

Ive noticed most people on here getting on Maachis bandwagon and praising him pretty much because of Jeffs involvement.

Get real plastics, he's not that good having watched several of his fights and the hype is embarrassing. 'Statistically unimpressive' :) - Thats the worst thing ive ever heard when speaking about a national level fighter.

Move on. He's a one trick pony that could probably pull an upset here or there, but thats it, I get the feeling most havent even watched him fight yet are riding his ****.

Spot on mate, he's so flawed it's untrue. He is a dangerous fighter but " the most avoided man in europe " he is not.

Whilst El Maachi has beaten who :think

I dont think El Maachi is a great boxer and have said plenty of times that whilst training himself shows wonderful dedication and is the stuff of Hollywood movies, with him it has turned out to be a very bad move. I like the lad, in his interviews he seems very down to earth and whilst he does have some power, as a general boxer he is very poor. His defence is a mess and he misses so many shots its untrue. He will be beaten by Small/Rhodes/Moore and the like. Sorry Jeffro :good

You need to get real mate. Most people on here don't support a fighter just because they are 'good', if that was the case, everybody would be a Mayweather fan. Most people here like El Maachi because of his attitude, ie willing to take on anyone just so he can get a few fights and his entertaining style (from what little has been seen so far). All we are calling for is for him to be given a decent chance so we can actually find out how good he really is, or not. I've only seen him fight the once, it was entertaining, and seemed like a good lad willing to make an effort.

I think the guy has a valid point about the bandwagen with Thomas's involvment, it was the same when Ding a Ling use to post alot more on here, all of a sudden he became the new Mike Tyson he was gunna knock Haye out in two rounds no one will fight him etc etc, then he got exposed on the contender as being dog ****.

I dont think he is that Good Thomas Mcdonagh handled him quite comfortably.
