Bizarre thread, I know. Let's say that boxing became like some forms of karate: all blows must be stopped short before heavy contact. Refs only score punches that "would" have done damage if they'd followed through--and only "textbook" punches at that. No looping shots, minimum leverage punches, or arm punches would score. Sorry, George... Who would be the "greatest" in each weight division?
Yeah thats a good one i think he might be the PFP best today if boxing was light contact. Paulie Malinaggi would be another good one.
Byrd would do rather well with these rules. We're looking for: 1) Possibly weak-chinned 2) Possibly featherfisted 3) Very elusive Fighters, who also have... 4) Textbook technique 5) Great accuracy 6) (Possibly) great handspeed 7) Good feints (since only clean punches score) Come to think of it, Corbett shapes up well under these criteria IF you stipulate that his "textbook technique" can come from 1890's textbooks...
