That would TRULY determine the best of his generation. I mean, yeah, maybe the fight's a few years too late, but Hopkins is a 40-something man and should be able to fight whomever he likes. Hopkins UD 12, btw.
I'm also upset about this bout taking place, but c'mon guy. No need to disrespect McClellan like that.:-(
I agree that Jones is basically a ghost of his former self, but don't like making fun of a guy who is in a bad condition as poor McClellan
I'm highly empathetic to G-Man's situation, but really, what Hopkins is doing here is unacceptable. Jones is shot to pieces and slurring his words -- he's done, and Bernard has other money fights he could pursue instead. This fight stinks.
Not directly but I believe that you should only use McClellans name in respect and not to make a point that this fight has lost its meaning.
Yea, Jones is super shot, and shouldnt fight at all anymore, but BHop is also super old, I dont care how well he maintains, the man is 44,45 yrs old. Its not like hes a hungry young lions picking on old people, hes fought nothing but the best his whole career, he can fight whoever he wants at this stage, but I would prefer for him to leave Jones alone.
I wouldn't really put that much hate on Bhops. The man in this late stage of his career is still an elite, not the best in the world, but nevertheless still a great fighter until proven otherwise. Hopkins is the type of fighter whom I really don't think will go out with a bang, but more like fade away. Maybe Hopkins and RJJ can have some exhibition, but like I have mentioned before Hopkins might be thinking more as a businessman than a fighter. Roy's people are just as guilty for letting him take this fight.
He is saying more then the fight has lost it's meaning. He is saying that by B-Hop fighting RJ he is directly supporting RJ's decision to continue fighting. Not a safe decision
Some of you are really over reacting. Sort of strange for "boxing" fans to be so damn sensitive. I don't see any "making fun" or "disrespect" towards McClellan in this post. If anything, it's disrespectful to Hopkins who is sort of asking for it. It is in bad taste for Hopkins to challenge the man who was just KOd in the first round during a tune-up fight. If anything, he should have just fought Green.
Use Mclellans name in respect! That guy was a peice of crap and he got what he deserved for the way he treated animals. Kama bites harder than any rottweiler. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2904695 Lampley didnt mean any disarespect but I sure do.
