This should actually be a good fight. Castillo is way past his best, the last time I saw him he got beaten bad by Sebastian Lujan, but he still should have enough to make a fight out of this. Gomez, isn't a bad fighter and looked solid when he beat a tough Karass last time out. I'll pick Gomez by decision here.

Gomez takes this, castillo is shot

Its another good name on Gomez' resume after Gatti, but if he wins he is still a C+ fighter though

Castillo IS way past it and should retire. The only reason everyone doesn't already feel this way is because most people didn't see the Lujan fight. He's toast, and he's way over his best weight.

    Gomez will dominate him.

Castillo should really quit making an ass of himself and retire already.. that being said I could see this fight going either way but I lean with Castillo by decision.

:-( Gomez will pad his record with yet another over the hill and undersized legend.

Alfonso is a gutsy kid and a decent fighter, he showed that against my boy Soto Karass, but a win over the painfully slow to develop and mature JSK doesn't suddenly vault him into legitimacy, nor does it set him up to deserve having Jose Luis Castillo as a notch on his belt.

Check back, I also shushed people trying to inflate his win over Gatti. :D

There was nothing to inflate there.

Not that there is THAT MUCH to inflate here either but you sure didn't give him much of any credit for the win.

Do you? It was kind of a weird fight. If he does exactly the same stuff for ten rounds to outbox his way to a points win (or even late cuts stoppage) in a rematch, he'd get full credit for both from me.

Sad, spent versions of Gatti and Castillo, though - you can't like seeing someone get two such gimmes. Gomez is like the new Terry Norris. :yep

I saw Castillo's humiliating loss to Lujan, throughout the fight it looked like Castillo just was not there mentally. His last few fights were against lesser talent, however Pac's camp has said that he looked good sparring with Pac. If and I do mean if Castillo wins, he definitely will get a title shot.

Gomez is nowhere near Terry Norris.

Offcourse. He was faster, sharper, more accurate than ever-basically like I've been saying since-a career best performance considering the opponnet and performance(Soto-Karass is a top 20-25 WW).
In other words unless Gomez beats him twice in appropriate circumstances you want you won't give him any credit.Yeah that to me means you don't want to give him any credit at all.
Agreed that Gatti and Castillo are/were both spent but it's not about that is it?

If Castillo wins, I can pretty much guarantee Cotto-Castillo will get made. But he won't, and nobody wants to see Cotto-Gomez II.
