Slow down and think about the point being made, tiger. Obviously Gomez is nowhere near Terry Norris; that's an unfair comparison if you're talking about pure ability - which we weren't.
He gets some credit, sure. It's just that it's a TD6 and not a UD10 which you'd surely agree would be a bit more satisfying. I don't necessarily think it was all that likely that he Jesus was going to score a hail mary late knockout behind on the cards, but anticlimactic endings in fights cut short like that always leave me a little sour. Like Khan-Barrera. Though that's a bad example, as you'll surely question my objectivity there, too. :yep
Wow...so is this going to be Gomez's routine now? First Gatti, now Castillo...who's next Leonard? There are alot of talented young 147-154lbs fighter he could fight instead on digging "RELICS" from the grave. Mike "Machine Gun" Jones Antwone "The Truth" Smith Shawn "Showtime" Porter Omar Henry Lenard Lane Hell I'd like to seem fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
maybe he just needed a break from boxing. he had been in some really hard fights before taking a break. additionally, he's not too old. maybe he still has a few good years left. i hope he wins this one.
A W is a W.He fought as good as he ever could those 6 rounds or whatever. Whatever....you just don't wanna give it to the man.At least Soto-Karass was competitive unlike Barrera who also was fried by the hometowen cooking.
Whatever yourself. :tong I haven't once denied that it was a career performance from Gomez. He looked good. There. All that crap is in your head. Moving on to the issue at hand, him fighting Castillo is sad and silly.
Gomez has fought on even terms or better with men who now campaign at super middleweight (and are top 20-30 at that weight).
In my head lol.Sure whatever. True about him fighting Castillo but man's just trying to make a living.
Gomez could take Chavez Jr even at Middleweight, but that's not saying much because a lot of fighters could do it, imo, plus it's not like it serves any purpose since he'd have to drop back down in weight immediately after anyway and that might be tough. Him fighting Castillo is just a name fight for the undercard. Castillo looked finished against Lujan, who is a solid Welter but nothing special, and that was over a year ago. I doubt padding his record against no-hopers has rejuvenated him, plus I'm not sure he's much of anything at Welter even at his best just due to the size difference. Alfonso should win by a comfortable decision or late stoppage, though there is some chance it becomes a war if Castillo has more left than it seems. As to Alfonso getting "gimmies" he did have to beat a solid Welter in JSK to put himself in position for the Castillo fight and he has fought Cotto(under bad circumstances for himself) so it's not like he's exactly had the easiest road, he's just capitalized on the opportunities he's been given/made for himself.
This card is **** poor, We get to see shot Castillo vs 'never was' Gomez, Plasterfist vs a Bum, Pac vs Clottey(which is an okay fight), and some guy I've never heard of against a TBA. Now that sounds like a card I want to slap down $50 bucks on in a recession. And plus, this might not even be on HBO, so this might be getting announced by Tex the used car salesman, ****ing wonderful a shitty card and shitty announcing all because someone is afraid of ****ing needles.
