I think Goosen cut a deal with Dibella to get Taylor out of Ward's way.

either way jermain taylor needs to not fight high level opposition any more. He should have retired after the froch fight.

Do you people think this is a big deal? It was reported earlier that Haymon was negotiating the buyout -- of course Jermain wanted some compensation for the money he's leaving on the table by dropping out.

It's the obvious thing to do on all sides.

Yeah, I get the feeling Taylor wanted to carry on but was being constantly told that he needed to step down.

Sure. It just makes it a little easier to swallow for me, since Jermain's messages over the last couple of months insisting he wanted to continue were so inspirational and had many of us rooting for him to come up with a miracle in April. This explains the abrupt change in tune.

Jermain doesn't have the confidence to be a top fighter anymore. I don't think he can get that back.

Taylor would've given Ward a good fight IMO.. yeah Taylor looked like **** vs Abraham.. but styles make fights. Taylor has fast hands and isn't as stiff and robotic as Kessler.. Taylor could've given Ward trouble.

If he got some step down money, I'm glad. I like Jermaine. If they offered it to him, I don't blame them either. It wouldn't do the tournament any good if he was hurt worse than in the AA fight and, I know you wanted him to go on like he wanted but I really do think it's best for him too.

Sometimes you can't fight the body/mind trying to save you from yourself. I think that is the point JT was at.

I don't really care if he was paid off or he quit off his own back, getting out of the tourney is what was required. I have always liked Taylor, he has heart, skills and is a modest bloke. He should retire with hish cash and drink cocktails in the sun...........in a hammock:good

Absolutely true. And I dont think anyone is trying to hide it. Showtime and Taylor did the right thing and everyone is happy. Not often something like that happens in this sport. Cheers to all who were involved.
