Malignaggi boxed UNNATURALLY against Cotto! he was trying to have a brawl with him.... big mistake! against Hatton he was being himself trying stick and move, yet Hatton is still the only guy to have stopped him!

If Hatton was in there with Margarito and he was gased out I'm sure he would of got up again even if he knew he was ****ed! there is NO quit in Hatton despite his other faults.

Another thing is Cotto does run like Dirrell when he tires.... he runs like him exactly! Cotto is a very vunerable fighter when his opponent sets a pace. Boxing is what Roy Jones would do.... running is what Cotto does when the going gets rough.:D

Can i just add to what the thirteen has put about both beating Maussa. This is a guy who was dubbed ''worst world champion'' by many people at the time after he somehow beat Vivian Harris who gassed out trying to knock him out and didn't even train properly for the fight. Beating Maussa for the WBA title was not what i call a world class win or opponent.

Hatton wouldnt beat Judah or Mosley and Margarito would stretch him. Hatton's opponents were hand picked, he got the right fighters at the right time, Cotto got them in thier primes, apart form probably Judah, Some of Hatton's fights at world level were disgraceful to watch and he was just nicking the decisions if you ask me, especially against Urango and Collazo, Cotto smashed Mousa in something like his 18th fight.

Seem like you just wanna hate on the guy. Cotto boxed and moved not everyone is blessed with Jones athleticism nor does Roy have fundamentals. Cotto does....but that's another debate. Malignaggi had to brawl...his nose was broken he was down early and also he was getting broken down and walked down. Hatton would of got up...same guy that just collapsed after Floyd chinned him again...Hatton is no more a warrior then Cotto is..Hatton never fought someone who suspected of having concrete wraps.

No it's called boxing to win a boxing match when someone has been heatbutted and cut badly...bad enough that many felt he should of stopped he didn't he could of won on a TD but he just said no let me fight. He boxed to victory..he never grabbed or held...Dirrell did.

Not to me. I suppose I have rose-tinted glasses as he is genuinely one of my favourite fighters I've ever watched, but I find it hard to understand or comprehend how any real boxing fan couldn't like or appreciate Cotto's skills, heart and intenisty. He's willing to take on anyone and the way in which he lost to Margo will always be questioned; let's not forget that Cotto was winning the first half of that fight and we'll never know if Margo's wraps were illegal and hardened during the second half of the fight. As for labelling the bloke a 'quitter', he could easilly have quit the Clottey fight and took it on points after the cut, but chose to continue with one eye. He also went out on his shield against the best fighter of his generation at a catchweight that he accepted (although I don't think the catchweight effected Cotto's performance- I just think Pacquiao is that good). The dude is immense, IMO:deal.

I love watching Cotto to mate i'm a massive fan and it gutted me seeing him lose like that to Margo and Pac. What i mean is....you seem to get people that completely hate the guy or really like him...it's a shame...he's what boxing should be about.

Ricky Hatton shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentence as Cotto, Cotto would of smashed Hatton, He would smash Hatton now anyways.

Your point is? Over training made him LESS prepared. Hatton can look skilful when his opponent can't do anything with him. He's looked sloppy in pretty much every fight he's fought. He's generally been facing slack opposition, or guys that used to be good and had slipped. First time he faces a prime elite fighter, he ends up with his head meeting a turn buckle BECAUSE HE'S SLOPPY. Can you imagine Cotto ever giving up his balance or footing like that?

Second time he meets a prime elite fighter he gets knocked in a highlight reel KO - one of the best of all time in fact. When Cotto faces Manny, he actually has some success and due to his tighter technique, he actually survives longer.

How you can't see the simple fact that Cotto > Hatton is beyond me. It's not even a matter of opinion - it's a simple fact.

Always magnanimous in defeat as well:good. Hopefully he'll cause a stir at 154 now as I believe he has some really interesting options there should, as I expect, he beats Foreman:happy.

Why would I just hate on someone for no reason? I don't use the general forum that much for a reason.

Malignaggi never had to brawl at all, he chose to and Cotto couldn't finish him. Fair enough if he was weight drained but there you go. Hatton was being picked apart by Mayweather with shots he couldn't see coming..... Margarito used more grinding down pressure tactics against Cotto where it was more of a battle of will than skill, it's the shots you don't see coming that knock you spark out and Cotto against Mayweather would of probably just lost on points rather than taking the risk of being caught over and over again like Hatton in the risk of getting a victory with a lucky punch.

Nobody knows if Margarito was using handwraps outside of his camp, but Cotto would have lost anyway in my opinion. Margarito was too much of a monster.

Yeah i feel he can beat Foreman to. It be strange seeing him in ring with even bigger men then he already fights at WW...but if he win's then that means he becomes a three weight world champ.

Not bad for a overrated brawler :yep

Fair point. I'm not saying Margo had concrete wraps although i do feel he did use them against other fighters pre Mosley. But if he did on that night then i can't understand why people say Cotto quit like it's a ***** move or something. Hatton's a solid world class champion who's had a great career although his mouth and continuing to fight is ruining his image but i think Cotto's still got more in tank to move onto a three weight world champ and leave a greater legacy.
