Ever seen a fighter looking genuinely scared in the ring?

Morales looked like he was walking towards his own execution in his ring entrance for the rubbermatch with Pac.

It's the ones who won't face him who are scared.
i.e. floyd.

 

that's cause he was weight drained to hell just like ODLH. But still, Morales did not look confident at all.

Pac should have let him fight at a catchweight. Hindsight being 20/20.

See this is what I dont get. Hopkins gets an immense amount of respect around here...this is a guy who in his prime had a trilogy with Robert Allen and fights Hakkar after one of the biggest fights in his life making him a p4p top fighter. Imagine Floyd/Pac fighting someone of that level? Floyd entertained the idea with M.Hatton but he was getting ripped just for the idea...Hopkins actually did that, 20 odd times!

I just thought and still thinks Spinks was not really hurt at that KO. He just did not want to really taste it. 'twas an easy money for him.

 

Didn't you hear when they said about a minute and a half into the first round that that was a mandatory fight for Hopkins, and they went on to explain that Hopkins said he worked too hard to get his belts to give any of them up, so he has every intent of fighting all of his mandatories and go for the big fights in between.

Floyd has no belts, and has hasn't been in a position to fight mandatories in several years.

 

Hide behind the belts. So if Cotto has no belt, Alfonso Gomez somehow wins a vacant WW belt, you would rather Floyd faced Alfonso Gomez for the belt rather than take on a real challenger?

How many times has people in these forums said the fighter makes the belt, not the other way around.

 

I thought Hakkar used the ring size very well. Probably worked on his lateral movement in training. Hopkins couldn't connect solidly at all.

Bruno v Tyson II. Hate to say it, but Frank kind of embarrassed himself there. From the ring entrance to the the first bell and all the way through the fight he looked like he had seen a ghost, crapping himself. Which is disappointing, 'coz he didn't do that bad of a job in the first fight. In the second fight, he really crumbled under the pressure and expectation.

 

I can't believe Bhop padded his record with this bum.

 

He seemed over awed at the occasion -and that is giving him the benifit of the doubt.

Oh and running away is not out boxing someone, it is running away.

 

That's not a good example. Why would Hopkins intentionally give up his belt just to avoid fighting someone? It's not like middleweight was a loaded division and some major opponent was calling him out and he had to choose between that opponent and defending his title. You would have a point if Hopkins chose Hakkar over, say, a rematch with Jones. But he didn't. He didn't choose to retain his title over any other option. So it's not at all the same as Floyd avoiding Cotto to fight Gomez for a belt.
