I agree with you 100%. The people who say Mosley won never ever show a round by round scorecard to show which 7 rounds Mosley won, bunch of cowards indeed.
Just rewatched it as well, great fight. I dont know how all the haters can say cotto has shitty stamina, look at the pace he goes throught the mosley fight
Absolutely. On another note, what would the name of that nice young lady in your avy happen to be? :hey
Great fight for both guys. Shane once again was considered over the hill before this. Watched a few times for the skill, will, and power punching. At the time of the live fight I felt Mosley did enough to pull it out at the end, in my eyes he finished stronger. As good a performance as Cotto put on, I also felt it was his undoing. Those later rounds were critical and it showed the deep waters Cotto could get into late in the fight with a man still coming full steam.
Miguel Cotto wouldn't have won that fight without Evangelista in his corner. If Eveganlista was in Cotto's corner for the Pacquiao fight, he would of won that fight too.
Live I was swayed by the crowd. They would go insane whenever Cotto did anything, including simply landing an occasional jab. I thought Cotto won the night I watched it. On a sober rescoring I had it a clear win for Mosley. The crowd at MSG was amazing that night, great night for boxing. They lifted their man to victory, literally. Mosley didn't get credit for everything he did. Cotto's work was cleaner, that's probably another reason for certain misconceptions. In some cases it's best to watch a fight with the sound off. This was one of those cases.
Thanks, bud. Not just for the name drop, but for also answering my second question before I could even ask. :thumbsup
The result is as expected: 116-112 for Cotto. Thing is, Mosley isn't as good as he was for 2-3 years now. His win against Margo isn't as magnificent because Margo isn't as good the world thought he was, Margo got exposed that he only wins because of his cheating. Not to mention Margo isn't motivated in the ring as he knows he'll be in trouble after the fight due to the wrapping incident before the actual fight.
What!!!! Your score is what it is so I won't go there. It was a very close fight and both guys were in that fight. Fact is Shane had more left in the tank crossing the line. But saying Mosley's win wasn't impressive is crazy. Marg did have a series of tough fights and dressing room problems with the wraps, but he came out swinging. Shane had a top trainer in his corner for the first time in his long career, they had a strategy and executed it. I didn't like all the holding Shane did, but he needed it to keep Marg off him. You notice Cotto never held even when in big trouble. Then he'd get his space tee off drop some bombs, anytime Marg cut off the ring and closed the distance Shane held on until later when he already did the damage. No one else had the speed, power, and grit to do what Shane did. Marg wasn't unbeatable with or without crusty wraps, but NO ONE was gomma do waht Shane did.
I apologize to those i offended. I didn't mean to undermine Mosley's legacy, because i myself think he's one of the best WWs in this era. I consider him only loosing 2 fights (the 3 others are debatable). However, these past 2 years - i could be wrong (Margo incident might have clouded my impression badly) but i'm not convinced he's still at his peak. Plus he's being ducked by everyone, it's hard to measure without much fights coming his way.
Excellent fight, and a close but clear Cotto victory for me. I'm bummed we never got to see the rematch. Maybe we'll finally see it after the Berto fight if Shane loses and/or can't get Pac or Floyd to fight him.
