Have you lost respect for . . .

    Ricky Hatton?

    I used to be a big fan but seeing the state he's in recently has me struggling to find much respect for the bloke. He says he's "probably" around 12 St 10lbs. I reckon he's closer to 13 St 7lbs. He looks dreadful with it as well. Greasy hair and spots - Looks like a right scruff. How can he let himself get to this while he's still intending to fight on?

    There've been a lot of negative comments about his resume recently. How do you see it? Did he have anymore than one impressive win?

    To be fair he beat 7 current and former world champs, one of them an ATG. His resume is decent post Kostya.

    I'm 6'3 and just over 13 stone. I'd laugh if Hatton weighs more than me :D

    I'm glad he's fighting on though, I wouldn't like him to go out on that Pacquaio loss. It would be nice to see him go out as a belt holder or on a decent win against a good light welterweight.

    Why would him ballooning suddenly make you lose respect for the lad?

    It's something he's done for his entire career, ony this time he's had a liccle bit more time off, so has put a liccle bit more weight on ;)

    I'd be more inclined to lose respect for him due to some of the poop he spouts, but what can I say I'm still a fan.

    Maybe he just doesn't respect fat people.

    That said, I think Hatton has been great for boxing and people shoulkd respect him for that regardless of the shite he babbles.

    I sort of half respect him. Obviously his boxing achievments are greater than 99% of boxers, nevermind achievements compared to the public, but his 'one of the lads' attitude always really annoyed me. I dislike that attitude in the general populace, so I couldn't identify with it.

    :lol: It's the way he thought he could be the very best in the world even with this attitude that gets me. I know he has to have goals and following the acheivement of being a two weight world champ he has to go for something new but he seems pretty naive at times.

    :deal I don't really like this either. He makes out he's down to earth and one of the lads but he's the same as the rest when it comes to talking about himself in the third person etc.

    I'm still a fan (Just throwing this thread out there to get other people's views, not to completley bash the bloke) but would have far more respect for him if he either completely dedicated himself to the game or accepted that he was a very good fighter but not the great fighter he keeps going on about. Stop with the excuses accept defeat at the hands of two of the bset the generation had to offer and be content to go down as one of the best Britain has produced.

    His win over Kostya was great but his subsequent wins only rate as good (albeit on a world level) not great imo.

    5 week pre camp and a 12 week training camp.

    I think thats far more then most boxers. His problem is he comes from a 'lad' culture.

    Trenaman doesnt really like Hatton but Trenaman feels if he comes back against a proper champ (Bradley, winner of Alexander/Urango, Khan) or Maidana / Campbell / Holt or even my personal choice Katsidis then i'd give him respect. Id respect it even more if he toned down the everyman act a bit but that aint gonna happen.

    It's the attitude and the crap he's coming out with now coupled with his lifestyle choice. He keeps coming up with excuses about the Pacman loss and he's still convinced he could have beat Mayweather and wants another shot. There's no shame in losing to either of those two but just admit you were beaten by the better, more dedicated men.

    If the guy came out and said he's proud of what he's done, he got beat convincly by the two best of the generation but he wants one more fight so that he can go out on a high, I'd say fair play.
