If you wrap with gauze then you can get another length of gauze and fold it all up and put that over your knuckles. Alternatively you can get a piece of sponge/foam and put it over your knuckles. There are also loads of things you can buy online to put on your knuckles. You can use some tape to secure the wrap tightly. I like to use a bit of masking tape just to hold it nice and firm.
There is a special way I wrap my hands, maybe it'll help you [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXMqvTO3fZc[/ame] Creates a natural pad out of the wrap and keeps it nice and tight.
too big and clumpy. defensively, you'll be covering up behind unrealistic sized gloves. in terms of hand protection i find bigger gloves are worse for your hands cos fighters are relying on the gloves for protection. in terms of accuracy, you won't have any cos the bigger the glove the harder it is to pierce any guard. i'd say 4oz above what you wear is what fighters should use. if you are a big guy like a heavyweight, cruiserweight, even light heavy then 16s can make sense for training. if you are getting 16 make sure you get nice compact gloves like everylast or reyes style. 16oz winning is probably the equivilent of 20oz reyes! Long wraps with 14oz and you'll be fine.
Sparring- 16 oz. Bag work- 12 or 14oz will do. Top notch punchers gloves: Reyes, Grant. Punchers gloves on a budget: Pro Mex, Top "Pillow" gloves: Winning "Pillow gloves on a budget: Triumph United, Shevlin
pretty much the size, shape and composition of each glove. reyes and everlast are compact. winning and grant are bigger, sturdier and have foam padding.
alright i get ya, its seems at the moment im gonna go for 16 oz pro mex thanks for the info, both a ya's , appreciate it
It's more aimed to inflict damage to your opponent rather than protect your hand. Less padding concentrated on knuckle part, and more compact. This is why Mayweather doesn't use them because he has brittle hands.
was thinking now of getting fighting sports pro bag gloves.. they any use? what oz should i get the nag gloves in? im very concious of my hands now, still not healed and a pair of pro mex pro lac gloves for sparring
Pretty much, except triumph is a training glove which will wear down faster on a heavybag than an actual bag glove
