Khan not fighting Maidana with Malinaggi a better option in the eyes of Roach and GBP does not mean Khan will never fight another puncher again !!!! You make a good point on why drop a title to fight the above , but that was not the argument the argument was if Khan is not carefull he may lose all credible opponents should Malinaggi Maidana happen , and i was just listing the possible's for Khan .
and I was speaking under the assumption that if he's going to duck Maidana he's not going to fight another big puncher.
Exactly! I made a similar point yesterday on another Khan thread. I really do not understand all this hype about Maidana. He shocked everyone with his victory over Ortiz but Ortiz just stood and traded with a crude puncher. Khan will have to take on another puncher at some stage and I think he already has the skills to box the ears of Maidana.
As it will be Khan's debut in the U.S maybe GBP want a flashly performance and on a known U.S name to help Khan build a fanbase over there. Fighting Maidana would be a bit like the Kotelnik fight on the backfoot which as a star debut might not go down well and might bore, as Khan wont take many risks vs a big puncher he would just box and counter the **** out of Maidana.
He wouldn't be able to do that against Maidana, as he opens up more than Kotelnik and moves his feet more, throwing his shots in a sometimes unpredictable manner. He would force Amir to do more. He would make it seem exciting even if its one-sided in Amirs favour. It's a perfect fight IMO. Unless his team have no confidence in his 'new skills' and/or chin (or his ability to protect it).
Yeah also Maidana defence is really poor, so open, Khan could land fast combos and get out before Maidana even knows whats happened.
"He was asked in an interview what he thought of pacquiao's win over cotto and that is when he brought up the steroids...he was asked what he thought...and he gave his opinion....and even when he was talked about as opponent for pacquiao....he still stuck to his guns, and spoke form the heart...that's paulie, and it's good for the sport...! Since when was one pro accusing another of doping been good for the sport? I quite like PM - admire his style and out of ring persona, but thought that a faded Hatton showed him up big time. It was as if he couldn't live with genuine power. Manny P on the other hand knew to expect power and came prepared. Power is nothing if it can't connect. Oh, and I've not even mentioned speed. But I wish Paulie well; I seriously do.
Exactly. It would be far more entertaining than the Kotelnik fight. And more entertaining than a fight with Paulie IMO
