Nah I agree with you mate, but the problem has been that there was no real requirement for a more fan friendly approach- it was a case of here's your huge purse, fight this joker, the fans will come...

Now with the internet, UFC, and competing promotional outfits FWP will simply have to evolve or they will slowly disappear- which will be a real shame. They might pop up again in a few years if they get a big name, or if one of there current fighters turns out to be the next Joe Calzaghe- but I want to see more then that- I want to see this talent that he proclaimed in the video I watched today!! I don't doubt it for one second.

Warren saw that Micky Duff wasn't delivering, he saw that Duff wasn't paying the fighters what they deserved and he expertly used his entrepeneurship to rise to the fore.

I want him to do this again. I want him to try and send out a big :fy to all the other promoters; not beause I don't want them to do well, but because I'm a boxing fan and if their competing with each other then i'm getting the best boxing I could ask for.

He's got the money and the ability to do it. Has he got the hunger, the desire and the initiative? lets see.

12 months from now, if he does nothing, i'll be disappointed.

I disagree... It was a fair match but it wasn't a main event and it wasn't ppv worthy.

Khan against anybody but Barrera or another A-lister wouldn't be ppv worthy. I've never paid to watch Khan fight unless its live- and I never would.

If GBP ever got a foothold in the sport here, the sport would die.

Sky are to blame for the Khan PPVs as much as anyone.

A GBP & Sky monopoly over Britains top fighters would be horrific.

if guys like Hatton teamed up with Khan/Haye they would just blow Warren and everyone else out of the water. Sky would do anything to have there fights on box office that they would give them a guarenteed large number of shows on friday fight night, and pay over the odds for them.

This would put them in a position to sign up most of the UK talent as Warren and others could not afford to keep there boxers. They would end up like Goldenboy in the UK.

One point i would like to add regarding Brook, Mitchell and Cleverly. They have only every headlined shows in the York Hall which holds no more than 1000. All there others fights have been on the undercard of other fights. The show at Wembley arena needs both Mitchell and Brook along with a British Heavyweight title fight and the Olympians, the Liverpool card has Smith vs Dodson as main event, Cleverly for the European title is basically an nice addition to the card for the fans buying tickets.

When Hatton, Khan, Froch were at domestic/european level or building up to world titles they were fighting in sold out arenas in there home towns. Hatton doing 15,000 at the MEN, Khan 8,000+ everywhere around the UK, Froch doing 7,000 in Nottingham. Guys like Brook, Cleverly and Mitchell are not even selling 2,000 tickets in there hometown, to me that says there not big names yet and will struggle to become so even if they are world champs. A bit like with Nicky Cook, he was a world champ but just used to beef up Khan undercards.

warren's been doing this 4 years. He'll bounce back.

  6. It's quite worrying isn't it. Personally I'm hugely disappointed to see Khan got to Goldenboy. Whilst I can't fault him wanting to do that, from a selfish point of view it does mean I probably wont get to see one of our best fighters boxing on stacked cards in big arenas in the UK. Last year I saw Khan twice at the MEN and the nights were brilliant because you had Brook, Mitchell and co as undercard fights.

That said, I think FWP will do what they already seem to be doing, which is to stack cards with these top fighters and have double headers. Feb 13th has no Khan but it's still a great bill. Brook and Mitchell and the Heavyweights triple-heading and then the Olympians and other prospects on the card. Its still miles ahead of any other promoter. His Liverpool dust-ups aside, I think he can sell bills still with these kinds of stacked cards.

I'd rather see a shorter bill with no more than 8 fights.

Young prospects fighting each other once in a while rather than in consecutive fights against non-descript opposition.

That's a general criticism of EVERY promoter though, not just FWP.

It's not good fighters we want to see, it's good fights. Sometimes two journeymen can have a right scrap, Samuels and Renda are basically domestic gatekeepers, yet both the fights (especially the 1st) were quality.

who in his stable do you think has the potential to be real box office???

Gavin, Bellew, Stephen Smith. They are 3 years minimum away from being at that level.

You say that Warren needs to step it up. Evidence so far shows thats not happening. He has got Kell Brook vs someone not even ESB members have heard off. He could of made Kell Brook vs Jose Luis Castillo even Zab Judah.

He could made a mega offer to Clinton Woods to fight Cleverly to try and make Clev a star, or even Roy Jones Jnr, Tarver maybe.

Mitchell is coming of a career best win, his next fight is gonna be agaisnt a nobody. stick him in for a title other than the WBO. Marquez and Katisids (both GBP) will keep hold off it for a long time. Get him in with Paulus Moses its a winnable fight.

This will evaluate them into the big time, and there all winnable fights.

I think we have exciting times ahead of us with FW having no superstar to promote. Maybe he can start his British HW merry-go-round again with DW and A Force facing each other again and Skelton and DW.....I can't wait.

He also shot himself in the foot by failing to publicise the likes of Brook and co when he had the ITV contract. There is nothing like building up a boxers profile using the free to air platform offered by terrestrial television.
