Vitali was pretty close to his prime when he fought Lewis in a tear up in 2003.I think the win has grown in significance when you look at what Klitschko has done in the years since much like Jones-Hopkins.
It's okay. But if it had gone on any longer, I felt Lewis wouldn't have just won the fight, he also would have won "the event"
Considering Lewis was pooorly conditioned and was going 38 years old and Vitali was prime and later proved to dominate the HW division, Lewis' win voer Vitali is no less than GREAT.
It was a close call, let's leave it at that... I think Lewis should have trained hard for a rematch and THEN called it quits personally. Course, that wasn't in the playbook so I can't really say that the win was significantly all that great. He won fair and square, sure. But did he also lose the drive and his heart and will to continue fighting on in their against Vitali? I think so.
He didn't knock anyone out in that fight though. He won via a cut stoppage (TKO). Kinda different. ...jussayin...
Very good. One of his best wins a ring champ 33-1 at the time 32 KO's. On a hot streak and very tough. He won and by stoppage. Most champs go out on their back he went out with maybe one of is best career wins and was old and not in great shape.
Well I personally had it three rounds each and Lewis landed the harder punches, did the damage and got the stoppage. Hmm.....:think
