I think what is happening to FW is related to the decline of World Class British boxers. There is obvously a lull at the moment, and not even FW can turn donkey's into racehorses.

That said, he'll probably fast track Brook and the Olympians.

Could see him making a move for some of Henneseys stable. Barker and Fury
    perhaps.

Excellent post Jeff I have been thinking about this as well. To be honest the only promoter that I think has the right idea in terms of match making right now is Ricky Hatton although Frank does tend to have stacked cards he has to many dud fights on his bills.

One thing Boxing loses out in hugely is moving into the twenty first century and utilising modern technologies to help promote the sport and the individuals, this is where UFC does really well. I can understand the smaller promoters not really doing this they have less resources to make lavish web pages and documentaries following their fighters but Frank does have the resources why doesn't he do more to utilise them and truely help promote the next generation of his fighters, to be fair it isn't just him the only promoter that has truely utilised modern technologies to their advantage is Top Rank.
A good example of this was for the recent Cotto-Pacquaio fight Top Rank made a web page for the fight with numerous videos, articles etc. to promote the event and on the day of the fight I watched a feed on that page that was two hours long finishing before the PPV began the feed has three short decent competitive fights and had loads of little bits and pieces that made you feel part of the event and would have been an excellent tool to get more people watching the show it was a terrific piece of promotion. My point why couldn't Frank have done something similar for for Khan-Salita?

The difference in America is that promoters actually PROMOTE the fights.

Here, the promoters are often (basically) events organisers and ticket sellers.... Sky do a little bit but not enough.

Other than that it's down to the fighters to get interest.

You're telling me it's pathetic, have you seen their web pages they are all god awful I could design a better web page and I know **** all about computers. They all seem to lack vision and a modern touch we need some new blood and someone that has vision and truely understands the new modern technological era.

Frank treats his fighters like products. He treats them safe and gets them paid BUT they always reach a stage where they are tired of it. Boxers have ego's that need to be fed. As much as they want money, they want big fights because big fights equals big money.

Hamed, Khan, Calzaghe, Hatton etc all want the same thing. Big fights and big money. Warren will feed them stiffs with pretty records.

Come on guys, Warren specialises in a particular business model and pretty much all his fighters follow that business model.

I like Jeff's idea of using youtube to let us get to know the fighters better, to see a different side of them if you like. Khan was getting massive audiences on tv fighting nobody, boxing can still be a mainstream sport, my mum still gets Khan PPVs and she's over 60 and the least aggressive person you'd ever meet. They just need to build up the personalities, get them on the idiot chat shows and so on, find an angle the public will latch on to. Look at Cleverly, a student, a big head, a champion, no-one knows how far he can go, I don't believe they couldn't make him into a genuine recognisable by anyone star.

Kevin Mitchell is his best shout, short term, as a world champion.

don't think Cleverly and Brook are quite there yet, but I do expect both of them to become world champions.

Exactly just look at UFC's youtube page it kicks all the other Boxing promoters ass and that includes HBO and Showtime. Also there is not one Boxing promoter that has one remotely interesting web page they are all terrible. The only promoter that is any decent in using modern technologies to help promote events is Top Rank they already have a web page for Pacquaio-Clottey and had one for Cotto-Pacquaio and it was brilliant they also use PPV in a consistent clever manner.

who in his stable do you think has the potential to be real box office???

Gavin, Bellew, Stephen Smith. They are 3 years minimum away from being at that level.

You say that Warren needs to step it up. Evidence so far shows thats not happening. He has got Kell Brook vs someone not even ESB members have heard off. He could of made Kell Brook vs Jose Luis Castillo even Zab Judah.

He could made a mega offer to Clinton Woods to fight Cleverly to try and make Clev a star, or even Roy Jones Jnr, Tarver maybe.

Mitchell is coming of a career best win, his next fight is gonna be agaisnt a nobody. stick him in for a title other than the WBO. Marquez and Katisids (both GBP) will keep hold off it for a long time. Get him in with Paulus Moses its a winnable fight. then fights with Valero, Funeka, Guzman, Marquez, Soto, Katsidis are all massive and with marquez and guzman past there prime they are winnable.

This will evaluate them into the big time, and there all winnable fights.

of course he could get a bank loan and offer Manny and Mayweather 50mil each to fight at the 02.

None of Warren's cuurent fighters are really on the level of Calzaghe, Hatton or Khan at this time.

It makes sense they are not selling out huge arenas.
