Well, honestly Floyd probably won't fight Shane. Even though they both need a fight Mayweather has made it very clear that he really doesn't want to fight Shane. Go look at any interview with Floyd where they mention Shane Mosely.

He will probably fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr or someone like that.

 

It would help his legacy significantly, but it will still be seen as too little too late in some respects. Your characterization that he's fought the best available competition for years is absolute horse****. The last time he faced "the best available competition" was when he rematched Jose Luis Castillo. Had he faced the best available competition, the criticism wouldn't even be there.

Good of him to step up and take the opportunity now, but even now it's just fortuitous that the two big money fights just happen to be with the two best guys. If Floyd thought he could make more money fighting Matthew Hatton, he'd be fighting Matthew Hatton.
