How or why did 'Tyson' snap to embarrass himself in 1997?

Frustration. It was a combination of being headbutted, not putting fear in Holyfield, and not being able to beat him. Cus could control him but Don King let him do whatever and had him around alot of yes man that could only say in Tyson's corner,"Knock em out Mike". We weren't there so if he did **** her or not(I doubt it but again I wasn't there) being in jail doesn't help your sanity. It most likely turns you into a worst person. Just curious, why do you always say your name at the end of all your posts Mr. Bill?

Why do people still ask about the motivations of Tyson post-Cus? His team fell apart, his personal life was in shambles, he no longer had any control over any aspect of his life. I guess the headbutts in the ring that night sent him over the boiling point against Holyfield in their rematch. I wouldn't look for much of a deeper reason.

If you watch the first fight closely, you will see Tyson attempt to headbutt Holyfield back early in the fight. Tyson's legs buckled from under him, and it seemed to backfire on him. So he gave up on it, and took a beating for 11 rounds because of it. Come the second fight, Tyson refused to be bullied again. When Holyfield started butting, Tyson tried complaining to lane about it, but he refused to acknowledge the dirty fighting by Holyfield and chose to take matters into his own hands.

Holyfield got what he deserved in my opinion, and was taught a lesson by Tyson. Holyfield bullied Tyson the first time around, but paid for it in the second fight.

you really dont know? did you look at tyson's eye after the first and second fight. as said by other posters, it was a combination of frustration that he couldnt overpower holyfield and the fact that holyfield was using his head. holyfield is notorious for headbutting. it was bad for tyson and and for boxing but as some like some of you said, holyfield got what he deserved.

Teddy Atlas was released because he threatened Tyson, after Tyson touched up his under age niece

no getting his ass kicked by tyson,
holyfield ran from the ring like a *****

he got his ass kicked end of story....

i have always found something shady about referees in holyfield fights

you have a guy who head butts every oppenent and the very next fight
the referee sees nothing again as another guy is being head butted to death
    by holyfield...

but yeah if you do anything to holyfield your an animal

In regards to the 6th round knockdown that Tyson suffered from a quick hook by Holy in '96, I thought that hook was kinda' thrown half-hearted..... Tyson dropped on his ass and fell back to the ropes, but he really wasn't hurt to the max...... Stunned; not really hurt..... Tyson's stamina was failing him there....... Them easy / meaningless post-prison fights with "McNeeley, Mathis, Bruno and Seldon" did little to fully prepare Tyson for a war with Holy..... However, them early comeback fights made Tyson a wealthy man---again.......... Yet Tyson was stupid enough to **** through it all like a wet paper towel with a hole in it....

In that new Tyson move, Tyson says he was experienced short blackouts after the butts and just flipped just because he did more or less. He then went on to describe that he just wanted to inflict as much pain as possible on Holyfield.

To be fair to Mike, Ruddock is taller and had his trunks pulled up way too high, those were questionable low blows.
