the guy cant even cut off the ring. In terms of sheer entertainment maybe, but in terms of all around boxing talent, i would say JCC, FMJ and BHOP are all better to name a few. JCC is particular was incredible at not only cutting off the ring but also putting a beating on his opponents. He didnt rely on speed alone to dominate. That's just one example. I still give pac props for capturing the imagination of people around the world with the way he has moved up in weight class, but in terms of pure boxing talent he is definitely not the best of this generation.

    Obviously he is.

Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know how to read a boxers resume. (in comparison with PBF)

Since Leonard? I think he's third - no way there's a large gap, anyway. whatever - to have two fighters who are (surely) beyond argument the top five of the past quarter century so close in weight and not fighting is utterly mad, no matter the dispute.

Just to clarify, for my top five, I'd have:

Jones jnr - at his best, he was as close to unbeatable as it got, and he really isn't a fighter I particularly like.

PBF - sorry, but that skillset is something to behold.

Pac - great opposition, but it's often ignored that he started wildly underweight, hence those horrible losses (though his early pro career is very similar to having a normal amaeur career). Amazing he's got to welter, but saying he was a light flyweight ignores just how dehydrated he was at that stage. More impressive that he was competitive at all for the first six or so years of his pro career.

Lewis - often ignored cos heavies get treated as a different type of animal, but he was wonderfully talented.

Sweet Pea - extraordinary defensive skills, but is maybe getting just a bot too much love now cos he was so underrated at the time.

Not always purely resume (though PBF's is pretty extraordinary, actually), though Pac's is amazing. The manner of PBF and RJJ's victories - and consistently brilliant - has to be factored in.

The fact that Pac has 5 fights against two fighters better than Mayweather sways it for me.

I'd also add the manner of Mayweathers victories is no more special than Pacs, even if he's more skilled.

Given the timing of this post, i guess you're including me here.

I think PBF and Mayweather fans are as bad as the Calzaghe and Hatton fans we have in the UK, and I was certainly guilty of being too pro-Hatton. I'm not blind - these two are fabulous, though I rate RJJ higher due to his crazy talent.

But I think PBF is more talented than Pac. There's very little in it.

PBF's cv is very underrated. It ain't Pac's, but it's one of the best half dozen of the past decade - very, very easily. Probably no 3 behind Pac and BHop.

A transgression would only imply that he's been proven to cheat. Do you in fact have proof that he cheated? The only thing in fact that you have is hate.

To comparably say that we guess Mark McGwire was the greatest homerun hitter of all time would actually mean something since he admitted to using steroids/andro/ whatever you want to call it.

Like Pac or not, he hasn't admitted nor been proven to have been using anything yet you've convinced yourself otherwise.

I would agree with the thread title, just remove the word "clearly."
