You thought Cotto was impressive against Clottey? He didn't at all look like his old self. It was a close spilt decision, Cotto loss against Magarito obviously effected him mentally & killed his confidence, it was only a matter of time he was going to lose again, especially after seeing his performance against Clottey.

You can say Marquez come off impressive victories but what happened in those 2 fights, IMHO Marquez won both of them.

And of course Mallinaggi's the barometer of a good fighter? Listen, Hatton already got his ass beat by Mayweather, a fight he entered undefeated, unblemished and unfettered. He had his trainer of 20 years in his corner, and he came in with the style that made him a 43 - 0 fighter. He came in with the confidence of a champion and the comfort level of knowing exactly how to fight his fight against Mayweather. Against Manny, he came in with a new trainer, with a style that altered everything that made him a 43-0 fighter. Mayweather Sr. tried to make him a boxer to no avail. He stepped in that ring confused and unsure of what he wanted to do and it amounted to him not doing sh%t! He abandoned who he was as a fighter. On top of that, he was a guy who already got his chin checked. Once a fighter gets that chin checked like that, it's NEVER the same(ie: Vargas, Roy Jones, Jermaine Taylor). Freddie Roach is a smart guy, he knew ALL of this. And since Pacquiao has started moving up in weight, Roach has not allowed him to step in the ring without an exploitable advantage.

his resume is far more thn the last three fights.

his resume is superb and far better than those fighters mentioned. his resume wont be matched in the next 50 years or more. start giving credit where it is due.

Hatton fought Mayweather in a weightclass that he'd never had much success in. Barely edging by a perrenial gatekeeper in a controversial decision in his only previous fight at that weight and then going back down to 140 where he once again had some success.

Plus, you guys just said that Pac has never fought a guy coming off an impressive performance. I just showed you some examples where he did, and now you're changing your tune to hate from another angle.

    big ****ing surprise.

You've given 1 example (Marquez) & even then Pacquiao wasn't impressive & lost in most peoples eyes, especially big boxing critics & you think this enough for him to be called the greatest fighter of this generation, nope.

He fought Cotto after he beat Clottey after he got his ass battered by Margarito. Cotto post-Margarito was not the same guy. Freddie Roach was quoted as saying that Cotto was not the same since Margarito and they intended to expose that. Cotto BARELY scraped by Clottey; it was Clottey's fight to lose and he did so by inactivity. Additionally, Roach wanted to get Cotto to come in at 143, though they settled for 145; the goal ultimately to weaken him. Ironically however, In a video interview with Freddie Roach he stated that Pacquiao was 150 pounds at the time they were training, so why would they need to try to drain Cotto below 147?

He fought Marquez after he beat Barrera and won an extremely controversial decision. Many observers/'experts' feel that Marquez won that fight.

I'll give him Barrera, though Barrera was old and war torn having been through so many battles.

Don't know who "you guys" entails but I said that SINCE MOVING UP IN WEIGHT Manny has not fought a fight in which he has not had an exploitable advantage. Not hate, reality.

This is correct, I think Collazo should have gotten the decision against Hatton. But to say he "never had much success" in that weight class doesn't make sense; he only fought ONE fight at welterweight before Mayweather, and that fight was against an excellent boxer who'd give alot of fighters fits. Nevertheless, though he didn't have a good prior experience at 147, he did not go into the Mayweather fight as damaged goods as he did against Pacquiao.

Pac aint the best fighter of the generation. That belongs to floyd. When it all said and done, and mayweather has wins other mosley, williams, and pac he can retire underfeated and a top 20 ATG and the best fighter of his generation without any debate.

    i gave 4 examples, not 1.

what about barrera who was coming off the best win streak of his career?

And do you think that's the only criteria for being the greatest fighter of a generation? REALLY? lmao. That's just one of many things that Pacquiao has.

I've already said Barrera was his most legitimate win, your Cotto example wasn't valid for the simple fact he didn't look his ordinary self against Clottey, He lost to Marquez twice arguably & wasn't that impressive consistently throughout the night against him, so that is not valid.

Hatton isn't valid for the simple reason he isn't a great fighter & i don't rate Malignaggi either so coming off a victory against him didn't impress me, Hatton should've retired after the Mayweather fight.

Pacquiao 'Greatest fighter of our generation' has only been bought him since he has moved up to WW & the fighter he's fought in that division he's picked up scraps, fact.

That's not enough for him to be to be up there with the likes of Roy Jones Jr etc, just my opinion.

Really? So Pacquiao didn't fight at 125 in the Phillippines before fighting again at 120 and moving BACK up to 125 to fight Barrera? I'll save you some time; He did. And to clarify, when I say since moving up in weight, I mean since the DeLaHoya fight. This is when people started having the nerve to mention this guys name in the same sentence as Henry Armstrong.

Fact is, his resume is no more impressive than Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins, Shane Mosleys or Mayweather Jr's. Pac fought ALOT of old past-thier-prime fighters in the lighter divisions.

Too easy to break down. Floyd fought Ocsar after he lost to Felix Sturm ffs. Judah after Baldomir. Hatton after struggling with Collazo. Corrales when he was about to go to jail, Marquez moving up 2 weightclasses (exploitable advantage). etc etc etc. There are always exploitable advantages in a fight.

You disregard the fact that Pac fought his opponents with exploitable disadvatanges. Moved up in weight to fight Barrera, Morales, Oscar, Cotto. Smaller than Hatton, distractions in training cmap, etc etc etc.

You say he hasn't fought a fight without an explitable advantage SINCE MOVING UP IN WEIGHT. but I don't think you realise that Pac was MOVING UP IN WEIGHT when he fought MAB. What was the exploitable advantage there? That MAB had been beating great fighters? LMAO.

You said it yourself, he MOVED BACK UP. which means that he was at a lower weightclass and then MOVED UP. The fact that he was fought a bigger opponent before that as well doesn't change that fact that he MOVED UP TO 126 from 122 and fought BARRERA right off the bat. Just like hopkins MOVED UP to LHW to fight Tarver even though he had already fought at LHW previously in his career.

Fact is that Pac is a LOCK as fighter of the decade for the 2000s, a 3 time fighter of the year, and currently the unanimous p4p best fighter in the sport.

Not a bum but not on the level of FM, Clottey is made for MP stylewise, the speed difference is too much IMO & Clottey will just absorb flurry after flurry more than likely losing a UD..... FM would have matched speed with MP & certainly wont be hanging around to absorb multiple combinations to the head.... MP, Roach & all of team MP know this ****, they dont want none of it & they are gonna want even less of it after Mosely gets outboxed (assuming the fight gets done, not holding my breath)

flyweight to welterweight (10 divisions). 5 world titles. 4 lineal titles. 8-1-1 against hofs.knocking out flyweights to welterweights. this is no easy feat and wont be repeated for a long time. start giving credit where it is due. we wont see another fighter like this in our life time.
