It looks like Amir Khan will probably take a fight before Marcos Maidana and it could be JMM.

Boxing sce.. was advised by Freddie Roach, trainer of WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan, that a fight with Juan Manuel Marquez is on the table. Contrary to widespread media reports, Roach says there is no set agreement to fight mandatory Marcos Maidana. In fact, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told *********** on Monday that he simply postponed the WBA's mandated purse bid for another two weeks to give himself additional time to reach an agreement between Khan and Maidana, who are both under the Golden Boy banner.
"There has been talk about Paulie Malignaggi at The Garden but they are worried about ticket sales and Paulie filling The Garden. That's what I'm told. I would like to kick Paulie's @ss because he's talking about my fighter [Manny Pacquioa]. He's an expert on steroids too now," Roach told ***********.
Roach advised Khan to avoid a Maidana fight for a little while to allow the hype to build up. He doesn't think there is enough buzz or money in the match. He was approached by Golden Boy about the possibility of fighting Juan Manuel Marquez and Roach accepted that fight.
"I asked him not to fight Maidana right away because I think that fight needs to be built up. He is not well known enough and there is not enough money in that fight. If it gets built up, it could be a reall big fight, so the thing is we are going to fight someone else and they just asked me if we would fight Marquez and I said 'yes we will fight Marquez.' So that's going to be on the table now and that's a possible opponent also."
Roach doesn't wan't Khan to vacate his title but if the WBA forces the Maidana meeting, he is not sure on the exact direction they will take.
"Amir is very proud of his title and he doesn't want to give it up. Maybe we could put Maidana on this undercard [Khan-Marquez] and build the fight up a little bit better and maybe the winners could fight each other," Roach said.

Juan Manuel Marquez and then Maidana? I personally wouldn't mind that, Sounds good to me.

Fight is a joke. Khan needs to face his mandatory, Maidana, not some small, shot, old fighter from lightweight. JMM has no business fighting above 135lbs and even that is pushing it to be honest.

Next that coward Khan will be trying to fight featherfisted Malignaggi and shot Hatton and become a real legend killer like Calzaghe.

Maidana better enforce the mandatory and don't take any pay-off money.

Bull**** to be honest, putting Madiana on undercard for the Khan-Marquez fight? Khan & Roach will be praying he loses that fight so they won't end up fighting him.

Not suprised Khan ducks another big puncher.

People are exaggerating with Marquez. I thought the Floyd was a joke in principle, but you know people want to believe the weight affected him more than it really did to have him look better. It was Floyd he was fighting...

This is Khan at 140, it's not that bad a fight really, can Marquez even make 135?

    People are just being ridiculous.

JMM has been training at 140 now for a while. He should be ready to fight a good fight here. He'll do much better against Kahn than Mayweather, as he won't be the one applying the pressure this time around.

We all know Kahn's chin isn't that great, and JMM is good at countering. It's not a joke fight.

marquez gained a lot of muscle to make the floyd fight, the worst thing he could do now is go back down to 135

    he should stay at 140

You're being way too harsh mate. Do you honestly think Warren would have let him got in with JMM? Khan even said a year ago this was the type of fighter he wanted to face.

And shot? Fyi, The Mayweather-Marquez fight was clearly a mismatch and Marquez was looking so fleshy and overweight.
