I like him but I don't even have Max Baer anywhere on my developing ATG list.

I'd have Armstrong #1, Duran in or near the top 10, and Loughran and Lewis probably somewhere in the top 50. Not sure about the others.

Someone fill me in on Larry Gains and the reasoning behind his being placed in this company, please. I know nothing about him.

 I don't think I've ever seen you say you didn't know anything about any fighter.

I don't know nearly as much as people seem to think.

For the record, I've never even heard of Gains. That surprises me, at least of he's being mentioned amongst these fighters.

It's assumed because you do pull some highly obscure knowledge out of your...bag of knowledge.

Well, I know a bit about Larry Gains but have no idea why he is in this company. I'd rather mention someone like Len Harvey, a former welter/middleweight, who twice beat (an aging) Larry Gains who weighed over 200 pounds.

Armstrong- Just barely above Duran Top 3
    Duran top 3
    Loughran around 50-55
Ketchel about like Loughran top 60
    Lewis Top 70
    Lynch Top 100
Baer Not even close to top 200
    Gains Below Baer

Actually this was pretty easy compared to some of the other lists.

He was a "Murderer's Row" type fighter (although I don't know if that label officially existed in his time) that was very much respected by his peers, but reportedly had trouble getting big fights or advancing his career. He holds a stoppage win over up-and-coming future champ Max Schmeling. He had a fight with Primo Carnera that I believe ended suspiciously in a DQ win for Carnera; I think it's on youtube.

I remember reading Schmeling said he was very sick for that fight...I think he vomitted in the corner and the ref stopped it.
