How much credit will Mayweather deserve when he beats Mosley?

  1. Doesn't he already have ATG status?

What exactly is hilarious about it? That's how it is. First of all, it's highly doubtful SHane would blame it on that. WHen have you ever heard him lay blame like that? And really...if he's fighting someone the calibre of Floyd, why not a tune up after being on the shelf for so long? Is that really out of the ordinary? You can bet at least Shane would probably fight a WW for a tune up.

So please don't put what OTHERS have said and try to attribute it to me. Too many idiot posters do that. Floyd was alright taking a tune up. Never denied that. But a tune up should have been vs. a WW, not a LW.

And yes, you do love haters. It allows you to be the buiggest and dumbest nuthugger there is. Without haters, you wouldn't have a ****in thing to post.

For the record, if Shane DID get a tune up vs. Nate friggin Campbell, would you think that was perfectly acceptable?

floyd should get credit even with just signing and getting into the ring with shane. but he is suppose to be fighting them elite welters anyway. it's about time he do something like this.

    Not that Much.

I will give him credit, not because of the manner of the win, just the fact that hes fighting these people !! Coz it proves a point and proves he is what he says he is ...

Shane will get his ass whooped !!

He ain't got no superior skills or nothing that will surprise or effect Mayweather.....

I'm not a huge fan of Mayweather, but I will give him a ton of credit if he
    1) signs the fight
    2) doesn't fake injury to avoid the fight actually taking place
    3) wins the fight

Lance I agree with you. I honestly believe Shane DESERVES a tune up first. Hell he is a warrior for going up Berto after a year layoff. My point is only that the knife cuts both ways.

Mayweather was off even longer. The JMM fight was also a call out AND made the Manny matchup even more interesting. So I can see your logic in that he should have faced a WW, but knowing the levels of hate around here, which would would he not have been skewered for? JMM was supposed to whip him according to even this web site.

You do have a point. I try to talk boxing, but *******s are just so much fun to bash. Sometimes I do lump people. Point ceded.

For the record, considering how much is on the line for a fighter, I don't hold tune ups against guys. Fight whoever. If the guy has a history of being competitive all the better, but I accept it as "work". You take crap work? So be it, but when the challenge comes I hope it was worth it.

There will ALWAYS be hate. But at the same time...there are weight classes for a reason. The JMM vs. Mayweather fight was a meaningless farce. Floyd's insistance on not making 144 made it worse.

I have no problems with tune ups either. But if you fight once or twice a years, they need to be REAL fights. Take an off TV tune up at home in front of hometown fans or something. Used to happen all the time. Don't take a TV spot on a pointless fight when those are coming harder and harder to get for other fighters who work just as hard, if not harder. Just my 2 cents.

I can see your point, but boxing is a self-promoted sport. A boxer has to market as much as compete. Mayweather not making weight IMHO was a win for JMM. It damn near doubled his purse in a fight he had no way of winning. I wish Mayweather would have made the weight, but financially I am happy for JMM. The weight classes are there, but no one is calling Manny anything for fighting catch weights?

I think that is a solid perspective. I also think that is why fighters had so many more fights long ago and boxing was more popular. It should come back. Guys as great as Ali fought in little auditoriums all over the country. Now if you don't live in NY, NJ, FL, or NV you won't see a good fighter.

I will give FLoyd credit where its due, if he takes this Mosley fight and beats him then he gets credit for beating top class fighter, one of the p4p top 10. But he still is nowhere near the greatest of all time like he says. To be a p4p great then he has to beat Mosley and Pacquiao.
