i don't like floyd but i just don't see how mosley can beat him. if cotto and forrest can outbox mosley, then why won't floyd be able to do the same? those of you who think mosley will beat floyd, in what way / strategy do you envisage him winning the fight?
Just watched again Cotto/Mosley, and i feel that Mosley has little to no chance in beating Floyd Mayweather. After round 8, Cotto starts to use the ring effectively, and consitently hammers Mosley coming in from angles. Mosley doesn't cut off the ring effectively and is just following around a puncher while getting hit over his lazy jab. The only way i see Mosley beating Floyd is by trying to make an ugly fight out of it. He needs to hammer him whenever he gets Floyd on the ropes and often. If he saps his speed by hammering Floyd to the body, he could win the fight. He will get countered often while coming in though, but with Mosley's chin, he could discourage floyd. This is the only way i see Mosley winning the fight. He doesn't have the footwork and the straight punches to win a conventional fight. He chops when he throws his right hand leaving himself to get countered with the left hook.
Mosley has to keep the pressure for 12 rounds, work the body, and try to cut off the ring and push Floyd into the ropes/corner. In the middle of the ring, Floyd is too fast and elusive and will outbox Mosley easily. Shane has to try to turn this into more of a brawl and show some of that viciousness on the inside.
he has absolutely no chance of beating floyd. i will say the same thing i said about cotto when he faced pacquaio despite many people calling me an idiot and all the names under the sun when i said pacquaio would dominate cotto easily which he did shane has poor foot and head movement. his tempo of fighting due to his age is poor as well. to beat floyd you need quick feet, decent head movement and you need to apply great amount of pressure. shane has none of these. he is just too old to do it.

Mosley was not that aggressive against Forrest and Wright. He's become way more agressive lately (Collazo, Cotto, Margarito). Thats a good thing. Nobody will outbox Mayweather. You have to hit, hit, hit and hit again. Thats why i think both Pacquiao and Mosley can bring Mayweather to a place where we haven't seen him yet. I would still put my money on PBF. But my answer to your question is: Punches in bunches.

I'll have to agree with Little Pea....punches in bunches. One of the worst mistakes you can make against Floyd, is think too much. Hate him all you want, but his intelligence in the ring is second to none, he can't be out-thought. However his over defensive approach means he can be out-fought. The only way I can see Mosley (and the same for Pac) beating Floyd, is through impressing the judges with aggression and quantity. Floyd's stinginess with combinations and attacks may be seen as a negative thing by the judges, and he may lose himself 7 of the 12 rounds. As difficult as it is, that may be all that is needed.
mosley is what 38? he doesnt have the work rate at his age or stamina to do that...dont get me wrong, i agree with you but constant angle punches and combo punches are the key as well. something which pacquaio does very very well at. cant mosley doing it, if he had the energy of someone like hatton/marg/pac then maybe
Yeah I get what you mean. His stamina will be his downfall, and I can see Mayweather begin to pick him apart as the fight progresses. It will be a long 12 rounds for Mosley. However (due to styles) I can't help but feel Mosley will pose Mayweather more problems than Pac will. The mistakes that Pac makes will be more detrimental than the mistakes Mosley will make. Basically, I think Mayweather will look better against Pac, than he will against Mosley
