    - Who are they? What I mean is, can anybody become a judge/ref?

    - What is the process involved in becoming a judge or ref?

    - Is this a full-time job and what do they get paid?

    - Are they accountable - who reviews their performance if anybody?

They are no-where near as accountable as they bloody should be

The only person referee Richard Steele was accountable to was Don King !!!

I cant remeber what fight it was or what actually happened but there was a incident where Las Vegas based Richard Steele done something of a crooked nature in favour of a Don King fighter. Somebody confronted him after the fight and said

"Why did you do that in there tonight"

    and he replied.....

"Come on man , give me a break , I gotta live in this town and if I didnt make that decsion my life is going to quickly become very difficult for me in this town"

He knew who he was accountable to - and it wasnt the rules of boxing.

This is the reality of some of these decsions.

Some might argue - and it has been said - that one more punch could have even killed Taylor.

    Fair enough point.

However - that isnt the point - the point is referee Richard Steele made that decsion because he was giving a Don King "elite" fighter a important victory - and he knew the conseqences of allowing Taylor to hang on for victory was going to be bad for his life around Las Vegas town and his career.

I can see why Steele stopped it.

Taylor was spent, that said, he was up and appeared ready.... but he didn't respond when asked if he was ok.

Not sure I would have had the stones to wave it off, even leaving aside the fact that Taylor was miles (on my card) ahead.

    As usual, there's two arguments......

    1. He was up, and had his legs underneath him..... and there were only 2 seconds left.

    2. He was spent, busted up and ready to be taken.

I'm not the sentimental type at all - completely the opposite - but I really wish he'd got that victory..... because he was done after that.

Some fighters can take all sorts and come back, such as Holyfield, looking shot several times over..... whilst Taylor took one pasting and was ****ed.

    Tragic.
