He still needs to work on defense and conditioning...Luevano landed he just lacks pop...I would hate to see what a guy with precision and power could do to lopez.... He needs to work on his defense, his offensive game is still grade A
It's a step in the right direction but he still showed some of the same mistakes he did against Mtawa.
He proved that his fight with Mtagwa was more to do with weight issues than anything else. He still looked pretty gassed in there before the KO came.
Ive posted it before but was there ever a fighter with the lack of talent that Levuano has that went as far as he did?
I say no. the champ at his weight class is Chris John at the minute. Lopez needs to fight him or Gamboa next. I heard him mention Marquez in post fight interview :verysad
...I think Luevano is a fine fighter. Stoppage struck me slightly premature...I didn't think it'd go much longer anyway though.
Luevano gots talent he's just not agressive when he needs to be. He needs to finish and end the exchanges. Make himself a little more compact in his defense.
IF he fight Gamboa, which I don't see happening this year, he will lose. Lopez isn't a one punch KO artist. and just throws combo's leaving himself open to get hit. Think Pac Vs Cotto with Lopez not being as good as Cotto. Of course this is based on the 2 fights tonight.
I never thought Lopez needed to be ''redeemed''. Although I was disappointed he didn't go for unification with a unified champ calling him out. But with the weight issues, I suppose it's not the worst thing.
Like I said earlier, Luevano is nothing out of this World and he even still managed to hit Lopez but lacked the power to do anything to him. Now, did you guys heard what Lopez said when asked about Gamboa? He said that in the future possibly in the end of this year or the next that they could possibly meet! Sounds to me like Lopez knows now what Gamboa can do!!! Mtagwa looked like an amateur or a novice tonight against Gamboa and he gave Lopez all he could handle in 12 rounds, CASE CLOSED...Gamboa will eat Lopez for breakfast and then tear up the rest of the 126lbs Champions.
Stoppage was good in my view. The way he went down way pretty ugly, looked like a puppet that got his strings cut. But he is a good fighter, JuanMa was just better.
