Ok iv just finished watching The Smashing Machine for the thousandth time. Anyone else see the stark similarities between Mike and Mark? Both were awesome physical specimens who at one time had a distinct aura of invincibility. (OK Marks was off hormones but hey ho..)

Both were incredibly mentally fragile. Both had there own demons. Marks was drugs. Mikes was tumultous path that his life took as a kid and through to adulthood. Both reached the heightest pinnacle of their sports and both experienced the devastating lows.

As individuals to dissect psychologically i find them both fascinating.

Not in the way they affected Mark. Mark was a drug addict from early on in his wrestling career. This was compounded even more when he fought in the early UFC's Vale Tudo and PRIDE.

It wasnt just the hormones. Mark was on a slew of Opiates. He would drive over to Mexico to get his drugs and had draws of syringes containing pain killers as well as illegal PED's.

Both also are potentially great head-to-head [in their respective sports], and both came apart from outside influences that create the temptation to excuse their losses.

Opiates, specifically the movie shows him shooting up nubain and he talks about different opiates and benzodiazepines.

Not at all. Branko was well out of line and broke the rules with a series of flagrant fouls. He knew what he was doing. And Barbituates are pain killers used for types of sedation :think Kerr sure didnt look sedentry to me...

Top man. Il ignore the fact that Mike Tyson is a top 15 ATG youngest unified champ of all time as well as one of the most influential boxing figures since a young Ali. As for Kerr he only changed the MMA landscape in his youth in PRIDE the UFC and Vale Tudo and will more than likely one day be inducted into the HOF. But hey ho...
