Im surprised that i haven't seen any threads on this. I haven't seen these guys fight, only articles and some minor footage of Shumenov, but i just wanted to make this thread being nobody else did.... Any Thoughts or Predictions on this bad boy? Any opinions by those who have seen the first fight? The fight is slightly favored in Campillo according to bookies. Any opinions id appreciate it. :good
Me too. And this fight will be broadcast on Fox, so hopefully people will check it out. We need to make sure we keep this thread on the main page. If you live in Vegas, the Hard Rock facility is outstanding for boxing. Top Rank put on a show there the day before Margarito/Cotto, and for $30 I got a great seat or could have paid $20 and just stood in the back by the bar. This fight is a little more expensive, but $40 for that kind of proximity to the ring is big-time.
It's tough to say - I've only seen one Shumenov fight and two Campillo fights, and I didn't see their first match. That said, Campillo was able to win a decision in Shumenov's backyard the first time, and I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be able to do the same on neutral ground.
I doubt anyone has seen the first fight since it wasn't filmed and kept a secret. But I think Shumenov has very nice natural ability, looks to me like Andre Berto and Yuriorkis Gamboa in a LHW body. I think he should win but Campillo is a decent inteligent fighter.
There was a lot of controversy around the first fight, not only the decision, but something with Campillo's urine samples missing or something like that. This fight is a legend on these boards, reports said it was one of 2009's best but no footage was released though I'm pretty sure it was broadcasted in Kazakhstan or at least taped. Anyway, it's great to have the rematch in the US where Beibut trains and lives. Golden Boy helping the show means they probably have interest in Shumenov who should win this one though from what I've heard he needs to improve on his stamina bigtime. The fight before the main event is just as good: Erislandy Lara fights The Contender winner Grady Brewer which is a HUGE step-up after just 9 fights. Grady hasn't lost a fight in the last 5 years. Great card, you don't wanna miss it!
I hope Shumenov wins. I hate seeing fighters feast on club fighters to pad their record up to about 30-0, en route to an undeserved title shot. Shumenov is the opposite of these guys - the fact he lost his last fight doesn't matter to me. He had the guts to go for a title after a handful of fights and for that alone he deserves credit.
Here is a 16 second video from the Shumenov-Campillo fight of a Campillo "KD" so it was obviously broadcast in Kazakhstan but hasn't got out for whatever reason. The Shumenov KD was from a bodyshot i think. I have Campillo - Uzelkov where Uzelkov KO's him in rd6 and i wasn't very impressed with Campillo. He is decent at everything but not great at anything and has no power, i was suprised Shumenov lost to him. Great card with Lara-Brewer on the undercard and am amazed that it's on american TV, can't wait for this. P.S. Beibut is a wild mother****er and entertaining to watch
I don't know why but i really don't like Campillo, i hope Shumenov knocks his ass out. I don't think it's unrealistic either, he has serious power and good handspeed. As much if not more than Uzelkov
Maybe because his nickname is "Chico guapo" which translates into handsome boy in english. That **** is ridiculous. Go shumenov!
Yep! Fox Sports. Very good card. If you're in the area, The Joint really is a great place for a laid-back and affordable evening of boxing.
