Recently we have seen two very poor decisions in British boxing ... Ian Napa losing friday just gone with Parris voting it 117-112 ..HOW ??? and Carl Dilks losing decision to Charlie Adamu .... I enjoy a punt on the boxing and these types of decisions are spoiling my enjoyment of our great sport as well as costing me a few quid ... I appreciate you win and lose in all forms of punting but some of these decisions recently have been poor ... Just wondering what your thoughts are and what could be done to erase these types of decisions ? They have been happening for many years but nothing seems to happen . Its cost napa a shot at the European title ...
Many are not qualified to do the job as far as I'm concerned. They might have some badge or certificate for having completed a course, they might know every rule in the book, but they just don't know the sport. Dave Parris's 117-112 card is a prime example of this woeful incompetency that blights so many events. You really are sitting there half expecting lunacy before the cards are even read, its disheartening at times. No doubt a few will come along and try to defend it, I mean it doesn't look good for British boxing if we admit our officials are incompetents.
is that confirmed? gutted for him if thats the case. not sure how such decisions could be erased. perhaps if a decision is widely acknowledged as being dodgy, the fight could be rejudged within a week by a BBBC panel after the event. but only for british title fights and eliminators.
Got to agree whole heartedly ... Ive watched the Napa fight twice now and cant see in any shape or foem a 117-112 scorecard .... im no expert and a fan like us all .. ive boxed amateur and unlicensed so know how a fight plan can work but it just seems madness ... Surely they should be made to explain publicly how they scored each round ...
It would appear so ... the fight was but now isnt listed on boxrec ... and they were talking beforehand the European fight was dependant on the win against McDonnell
Blaming judges for bad decisions is like blaming gravity for aeroplane crashes. The problem is the arcane, archaic, nonsense of a scoring system.
What sports don't have problems with officiating? Ireland get knocked out of the world cup thanks to a blatant handball which everyone on planet Earth except the ref sees. The most recent England/South Africa test cricket match had some scandolous umpiring decisions and that's with the use of replays and all that. It's unfortunate when a decision goes the wrong was or a refs call affects the result but there isn't alot that can be done about it, human errors happen. Plus, for every bad score card that a judge turns in that gets people complaining for weeks he's probably put in a dozen perfectly acceptable ones that no one remembers. Gale Van Hoy got a load of **** for the Malinaggi/Diaz 1 score but in the controversial first James Toney/Sam Peter fight he was the only one who had it for Toney.
I understand your point, but it still doesnt make it right. Scoring should be fair. Also Dave Parris has got it wrong many times and you might say hes inept but I firmly believe hes very biased.
do they ever come out and admit a mistake like football refs often do? any punishment like 3 months suspension or cant do important fights after a mistake ? should be interviewed after, like the fighters are
Don't be a ****...he has the venue because he is the champ and the draw, the ref and judges will be appointed by the WBA
It cost Napa another beating. He should be thankful. Bad decisions happen alot and probably have since the sport began. Paris saw a completely different fight to everyone else who saw the fight and should be asked to explain how he saw the rounds.
What about appointing 5 judges ?? I know theres a cost implication but if we had 4 judges and a referees scorecard then we would see more fair results ... Agree or disagree?
And the majority will be white, what do and ur racist politics make of that, u ignoramous! As far as the Napa scoring controversy, Dave Parris is a joke, this guy is the epitome of garbage. Terrible Ref, even worse judge. How the hell did he score the third Williams-Sprott fight for Sprott i will never know. Now dont even get me into the 3 points he deducted off Williams in the first Mcdermott fight
