Dude, you totally disassociate Hagler, Hearns, and Benitez with Leonard's resume. ...Justify that, please.
I like Jackson too. he is one of my idols growing up. When we lost Tony Ayala the sport was in serious need of its next big KO artist How come we dont got more Julian Jackson fans on ESB?
I like Jackson a lot. Mad respect for being the KO artist that he was. Can't give him too much credit for the one above though, being as the opponent's jaw was made of paper mache'. Hell, even a blown up, shop-worn Welterweight like Simon Brown could crack it with a simple jab. I'd be surprised if that Norris guy had any nuthuggers.
Jackson gets all the credit in the world from me for beating Norris, it takes a special fighter to beat Norris and Jackson was one of them, too bad Jackson lost to Quincy Taylor, but on the positive side of things Norris whooped Quincy Taylor and was the man who took Quincy's undefeated record.
Ask Hearns and Mugabi how "broken down" he was. Who's seconds? He hadn't lost a fight in a decade. You mean at a time when Leonard was given the least chance he ever was to beat him? Why? Nunn wasn't any better or more accomplished than Hagler had been. That's because it's only logical and sensible to be impressed with a guy who comes straight off a layoff and eye surgery and wins a fight he's not supposed to.
That's because you're a fool. And Leonard overcame Benitez, Hearns, Duran, etc., etc. Yes, who Pipino Cuevas wasn't good enough to.
You mean the way we can look at Hagler's previous fights with Hearns and Mugabi and see the human destroyer in action? :deal We did. ''Leonard was a step slower and was getting hit with punches that he used to elude easily before.'' -Eddie Futch, December 7, 1989 "After nine years the rematch between Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran was just what a fight fan should have expected: two middleweights who were nine years older, a little slower and a little richer than they were at their last encounter." -The NY Times, December 10, 1989 "But in recent bouts Leonard has appeared vulnerable to time and other men's ambition. He has suffered knockdowns and has been cut, and there are signs in Leonard's eyes that have some observers believing he is headed for a fall." -Phil Berger, February 8, 1991 "Ray Leonard is pushing it by taking on me. His good days are behind him." -Terry Norris Nice to know this matter is settled. :hi:
most of times , decisions , and especially close decisions which split decisions are 1 type of them are wrong. one could make a thread about it , maybe i would. examples , i bet you can give plenty yourself toney vs. mccallum (the first 2 fights) griffin vs. toney (both fights) toney vs. jonson , tiberi , merqui sosa peter vs. toney calzaghe vs. hopkins trinidad vs. delahoya delahoya vs. sturm , quartery pacquiao vs. marquez (i think pac should have won their first fight also ) castro vs. johnson (both fights) leonard vs. hagler dawson vs. johnson (first fight) louis vs. walcott (first fight)
He overcame Duran remember? Oh wait, no you don't. You have selective memory. He made the most overrated ******* of all time quit like a coward in the middle of a fight... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPoWrWwwi8M[/ame] He overcame Hearns remember? The scariest fighter of all time. Oh wait... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN26fJqvoRQ[/ame]
Duran overrated? Duran is the king of kings in boxing. There is no way that Leonard is better than Duran, Duran took on a prime Hagler, Leonard did not. Leonard is a great fighter as shown in his bout's with Benitez, Hearns (1st) and Duran (1st), but he is no Duran.
Jut got Durans carrer set and are going through his fights, will watch at least one of them today. His bout with Barkley was great. :good:good:good
According to redrooster, he never gets owned, and the forum gets "quiet" after he posts. So apparently, this thread does not exist, nor has it ever existed. :nut
