I believe Margarito deserves one more chance at the big stage and at the big time not b'cause he and his people r inocent by any means of his illegal hand wrappings but b'cause he has been proving to be a great warrior and that has nothing to do with loaded gloves. Tony has been showing a solid chin and tremendous conditioning in his fights, specially when he has taken a whole lot of punishment and has kept a very high spirit ( against Clottey, against Williams, against Cotto and even after taking so much from Mosley)... And you don't want to sentence someone for life and kill that spirit based on something he was caught on one situation, maybe there were more, maybe there were other fighters with illegaly loaded gloves... There is a space for doubt...
There's a huge difference between attempted murder and committed murder: a dead body. It's a whole different in court even if in both cases there should be (a very different) punishment. Margarito already was punished by a 1-year suspention and he might get even more. But the thing I stated: other than Margarito never was caught actually fighting dirty and people in this thread fail to understand that false accusation even on an internet board can be subjected for a lawsuit, understand this: during the whole 15-minute wrapping procedure applying an extra pad should not take more than 10 seconds per hand. Now whether Margarito asked Capetillo what is that and if he did, whether Capetillo told him "I'm loading your gloves" is something we're never going to find out, but I can be easily convinced that that extra gauze didn't make a ****ing difference for Margarito's eyes. Many trainers have all sorts of techniques and little extra things on their own, no hand wrapping is the same. Capetillo did more, used a greasy substance in an extra pad which is against the rules and called loading of gloves, but we can only speculate whether Margarito even noticed the difference. Now it'd be VERY hard to convince me that Mosley never suspected he's taking an illegal substance when he admitted to court that he personally injected the substance into his own body, and said that the physiological effects of it were explained to him.
Hahaha! I've been laughing my ass off. I'm glad someone else noticed that too. Yeah, plaster on your hands make you fitter, more energetic, etc.
Oh good Lord, the collective IQ of ESB reached a new low - yet again. Seriously, Lord, is it too much to ask for anyone who's educated enough to be able to post on an internet board to understand the connection between illegal substances taken into the body and illegal substances added to the gloves, which is: "able to inflict more damage on your opponent"? Is it so hard? Dear Lord, if these are your children, we're in for a ****ed up 21th century.
I wouldnt say he deserves it, but he will get a 'second chance', because there isnt enough proof of him using the substance in previous fights, even though it is clear he did.
Yes. Margarito shouldn't be allowed to fight again. Watch Assault in the Ring if you disagree with me.
I can buy that it is possible that Margo didn't know. However, Capetillo definitely knew it was illegal so are you in agreement that at a minimum Capetillo should be banned for life?
Would the people who support Margarito's reinstatement still support him if he hit Mosley with a metal bat during the fight? Well this is the same exact thing.
Of course, without a question! But I just don't expect people around here to understand that Margarito didn't wrap his own hands, it was done by the trainer, likely (but we're never gonna find out) without Tony's knowledge. As you can see people don't even understand what is attempting to cheat but not cheating means with no evidence of cheating in the past, while they also fail to understand that James Toney was actually caught cheating twice, after he fought dirty, not before, and Mosley personally injected the 'unknown' substance into his own body then beat De La Hoya. Yet no one wants to ban them, most likely because of 1) failure of logic to understand what is attempted and committed cheat, 2) personal bias and 3) the large influence of US media failing to deal with it's own athletes dirt but come down hard on others. I'm posting in this topic because this bothers me. Margarito never was proved fighting dirty, while others were, and Tony's getting all the heat.
I can't believe this many people think he deserves a second chance after he pretty much stopped Cotto's career dead in it's tracks. Who knows who else he did this **** too, I bet you he loaded for the Cintron fight as well. I won't even order pac/clottey if he is on the undercard.
YEAH, they (Arum & Margarito) just like to watch ESPN & Dan Rafael so much that they didn't even think of the prospect of making Milllions $$$$ like you say by suing them...EASILY!!!:yikes
