Common sense will tell you that the scales were rigged. Pac unofficially weighs 148 on fight night, so let's assume that he was walking around at that weight. Why would the smaller man coming up in weight boil off 6lbs when 1lb would suffice? Does it make sense to skip a couple meals, deny fluids, or do some extra roadwork for no reason at all? Add Pac's own comments that he was puzzled by the light weight, as he was expecting to come in at 146lbs, and you have a pretty damning argument that Oscar cheated.

:nono <--- That emotion good enough for ya? I'll admit that the only fighter I can be accused of being slightly biased towards is Cotto and still, it didn't come close to nuthuggery.

Problem with Manny is the people around him. roach and arum cant shut the **** up for anything. And it was roach that said before the fight that he wouldnt allow Pac to fight if Oscar was over 145. Now its pretty hard to argue with that, but *******s will. Not to mention that I posted an interveiw were the guy asked Oscar if he was having a hard time making 145, and Oscar said that he thought he would make the weight because he was eatting kangaroo meat.

With all that being said lets not forget that Oscar had been fighting over 147 for about 10 years before his fight with Pac and even if they were fighting at 147 it would be seen as a catchweight being that neither guy was fighting at the weight at the time.

    PS *******s are ****ing stupid:good

i'm re-quoting this so that the ts will see it and understand the definition of a catchweight, as he may have overlooked it.

    1. The fight was at 147, thats the weight that was agreed on, if either man came in under 147 then that was their choice, they were allowed to weigh 147.
    2. Its still a catchweight because DLHs weight was 154 & MP had never been above 135 at that point himself.
    3. Im white & non-Mexican, DLH is nowhere near the best Mexican fighter ever.

Curious....are all of Paul Williams fights at 147 & 154 NOW considered catchweight fights too?

Or what about Shane's WW fight? Since Floyd fought at 150 and now 147 again...is any fight he in a catchweight fight now as well?

    Just testing consistency here. :good

    It's all semantics.

Officially it's not a catchweight because it was fought at the Welterweight limit. But also Pac was coming up in weight and Oscar was coming down in weight so it's a compromise in weight.

Did Pac impose this weight? Highly doubtful, Pac wasn't as a big a draw then as he is now so he probably couldn't impose much during fight negotiations. Oscar was the big draw here and Oscar had most of the power during negotiations. So this hardly qualifies as Pac "forcing" his opponents to fight on his terms.

Obviously the only fair weight to fight this fight was at Welter because if it was fought at 154, that would have ruined Oscar's reputation, making a lightweight go up 3 weigh classes. Oscar probably realized this and thought he could still beat Pac at 147 so it was made at 147.
