I watched Norris fight that war with the can earlier...the one where he gets clipped in round 2 and looks like he's about to die right there and then? ...Embarrassing.
:nono Troy Waters? Not a can mate...One of our best of that era. Pickings were slim but he was world class. His fights with Brown and Rosi proved he wasnt just some no hoper from half way across the globe. But if you are using that fight to beatdown on rooster..then its cool
He was more accomplished than Lalonde so if Ray is as good as you say, he would aim straight for Mike. Again, he wasnt man enough for any real challenges. Just a series of bogus matches in a bogus comeback following a bogus retirement with a bogus excuse It doesnt make sense to make your comebacks at an older age where the risk only goes up I always wondered about that tho. How come RL would abandon the thumbless glove after 87 Sounds like a remedial boxing tour
Yeah but can you imagine how often Rooster would bring it up if Leonard almost got put to sleep by a Troy Waters level fighter at his peak? You would never hear the end of it.
You just got done describing a 32-year old Hagler as... And then you added for good measure... Oops. Yeah, it's not like he took their titles or anything. :nut
Why would I be upset? It wasnt my man that fell short but rather yours Tough break for all you down under. Next time, train out here in the States where all us winners come to roost Get it? Roost?
OR he would aim for a bigger opponent in a higher weight class for another title(s); which is exactly what he was doing by fighting Lalonde. So a guy that just beat you, an undefeated co-champion, and longtime champ with 12 defenses aren't "real challenges"?? :nut Yeah, "bogus" matches with world titles, top rankings, and millions of dollars on the line. :nut And taking those senseless risks is part of what makes him an ATG. :deal
That's what superior competiton does to a man, even someone as good as Hagler. What was Leonard's excuse? Again, Duran was 38 when he beat the current title holder Barkley for the title and Leonard didnt have half his fights Duran won. Leonard didnt and was favored. Maybe it's a good thing he was afraid to mix with Nunn
Too bad he couldnt deal with someone in a lower weight class that was quality-like Norris Not when as Ray would say "Hagler had lost a lot of speed and was counting on the slowness of hagler". That totally cheapens it for the sport, getting sloppy leftovers and trying to sell it to the public Yeah, I would say that two titles in one night vs some tomato can holding one title qualifies as bogus Boy, I bet you wish now I hadnt shown back up this soon. You're just not ready for me yet
So Duran didn't fight "superior competition" then? atsch :nut The Same, seeing as he had had even more fights against Hearns and Duran than Hagler did. Hagler had less fights than Duran as well. You mean the way Hagler didn't win while favored over Leonard? :nut
So Hearns, Duran, and Benitez weren't quality? :nut You mean the way Norris said the same about Leonard when he fought him. :rofl Really? Leonard must have some otherwordly god-like power, to be able to "cheapen" one of the most highly anticipated and highest grossing fights of the decade with just a few sharp words. You're right, I wasn't ready for comments that could sink to this level of inaneness.
