I just watched it yesterday which option do you think it should've been? Chavez decision Randall TKO 8 decision No Contest
Randall by TKO, as Chavez basically quit. Even in going to the cards, Randall still should've had a slight lead IMO, so he was screwed on two counts IMO.
The doctor asked if he wanted to continue and Chavez basically said no. I see it as Randall being screwed too.
I always thought this was a very ulgy theft by King at his worst and said a ton about what Chavez had become, a pampered, well promoted former great who believed his handlers praise over his own instincts. He was no longer the great , dedicated, proud warrior he had been ... Randall was completely robbed and Julio did not even mind having the title stolen and handed back to him ... notice no rematch for Randall till many years later ...
Chavez got lucky to get a decision(Damn Don King!). I wonder why they waited til they both had grandkids in their 30's to have a rematch.
I always feel that Randall gets shafted by boxing history. I rarely see his victory against Chavez mentioned in "Biggest Upset" lists. Hell, he didn't even get a cover of Ring Magazine dedicated to him. I mean, wouldn't that be a great issue of Ring, just seeing the mighty and undefeated Chavez knocked down on his back by some unknown in his first title fight? There should have been an immediate rematch which I think Randall would have won but sadly it never did
People seem to forget Randell was 49-3 at one time, two of those losses being via TD's! The other being a devastating KO loss to banger Primo Ramos in Randell's last fight at lightweight, as he was slipping into drugs I believe.
It should've been declared a 'No Contest' at the time cuz of the headbutt by accident from Randall..... However, I have a copy of the fight.... No ****ing way was Chavez honestly ahead on points after 7 rds..... No way....... The fix was in.... Randall was butt-shafted in 1994.... Now come 2004, down in Mexico, part # 3 was also a good fight for two over-the-hill guys, but Chavez had more gas and looked better trained than the severly faded Randall........ Chavez won # 3 by 7 to 3 over 10 rds on my card....... MR.BILL
****in' A. I bought it.......... Why not? It was only like 20 USA bucks back in 2004 with Col. Bob Sheridan calling the shots from Mexico........ It was a reduced PPV event that entertained me at the time..... PLUS! I had just ****ed up and moved to Raleigh a month earlier and had no real contacts in town, so I had to do something to keep me going...... But fight # 3 was pretty good.... Of course neither man was the same as 1994, but they still had some skills and were equally matched in '04...... I recorded the fight and own a tape to this very day........ We kool....... MR.BILL
