Is anyone surprised? Can't blame him I suppose but Gallagher has turned him around and I can see this ending badly.
He give alot of thanks and credit to Gallagher an said he understood it was a big opportunity for him. I think he see's the kinda support Duddy is getting in the states an wants a piece of that also. If he can get past his next bout (tough one) he should be close to a world title shot. All the Irish-Americans will get behind him an he could find himself making quite alot of money.
Exactly you have no reasons for your bul**** statement about macklin not being able to hang with pavlik. put it this way he is the only guy out of the whole uk and ireland you could give pavlik rounds.
I think Pavlik at the top of his game would dust Macklin. He might do well operating just below that level though. Interesting to see how much work he actually gets in with Roach with the Pac-Clottey fight coming up and Khan - Whoever not far behind.
Macklin would probably last longer based on the fact he's got the better chin. But Macklin doesn't match Pavlik for power, nor does Macklin have the skills to outclass Pavlik. Macklin's a decent fighter, but hasn't really proven himself. I hope the fact he's with Roach now enables him to fight Stateside, in which case I hope he gets a fight with Vera.
- Exposure in the US. - Warm up fight before he takes on an American contender. It's not like Macklin has fought anyone miles better than Vera.
Vera has a name, not a bad idea for an introduction to the US market I think that's actually a really good call
When macklin beats pirog which is a WBO eliminator for pavliks title thats it he is mandatory why vera?
Might be a good move, will help him if he's trying to get exposure in America, but it's risky to change trainers so close to such an important fight.
