Which one of them do you have highest in terms of 1.) Resume/accomplishements 2.) Overall skill/ability?
1. Leonard and I don´t think it´s that close. 2a. skill: very close, I probably go with Pea 2b. ability: not that close, Leonard was more complete
Leonard's top wins trump Pea's, while Whitaker has more depth to his resume. As far as ability goes, they're more or less on the same plane, with Leonard likely edging it due to his offensive firepower. I usually have Leonard about a spot higher on my pound-for-pound lists, both guys just inside the top 20.
I have to agree for the most part, but had Whitaker been rightfully awarded the victory over an 89-0 Chavez, it would have been huge though. Still not sure that it would have matched Leonard's wins over Duran, Hearns or Hagler, but the margin would have been significantly narrowed.
I posted that while considering his rightful win over Chavez. Still, a win over Chavez doesn't even out to 4 wins over fighters like Hagler, Hearns, Benitez, and Duran.
What do you say of their foot work? As I see it, Leonard's was perfect bar the fact that he couldn't really punch off of movement that well. Pea could be more sloppy with his feet, but punched beautifully while moving.
1) Goes to Pernell. Someone like Ray Leonard found the speed of Norris too great an obstacle 2) Goes to Leonard slightly. He looked less awkward and fits the profile of a stand up boxer
Redrooster. How can you say Leonard found Norris speed as "too great an obstacle" so you give the first one to Pernell? Leonard was past his prime against Norris. Let's use the Whittaker v Trinidad in this debate then, would you put that Whittaker above Leonard in any shape or form? Hell no you would. The only versions of Leonard you can use is Leonard at his best v Pernell at his best, and leonard takes both, 1 and 2.

Even giving Whitaker the Ramirez, Chavez and DLH wins, as I do, Leonard still has a quite clear advantage in terms of resume. In terms of skill, Whitaker is more skillful and probably by a fair margin too. But in terms of ability, Leonard has more ability because of his athletic prowess and power advantages. In terms of greatness I have them more or less equal though, becuase Whitaker has edges in terms of dominance and longevity.
