Got to say i never saw what the fuss with Reid was.Fights like Cerifi and an ancient shot Malinga really showed his level and this was reid at his absolute peak. Francis had a lot more potential as a boxer-puncher imo.
Interesting Arnie who has probably sparred hundreds of round with Reid and an ex stabelmate goes with Francis, thats says alot imo.
If I remember rightly, Francis was THE man, around those times amateur wise. His dad was an ABA champ and much was made of his prospects. He certainly filled out a lot after turning pro. His stoppage of Starie was brilliant your right... Think Starie was favoured too!
No he has seen what Reid brings first hand and still thinks Francis beats him and gioing off the general mood on this Reid would be favoured, so that's why I find it interesting. He is from Runcorn too not Manchester.
What you do in the gym doesn't always translate to the big stage. Nerves and lots of other stuff can play their part! Reid was always known for having 'off nights' so I judging his level by his bad days at the office is possibly harsh.
Oh I agree but I just find it quite refreshing that Arnie who was a stablemate of Reid and who would probably go into the fight prime fro prime as favourite would back Francis thats all. It's like say Bradley Price saying Froch would beat Calzaghe in a weird way :nut.
