Actaully since neither Oscar or Pac was at the limit then it was a catchweight fight according to what your saying. Oscar 145, Pac 142. I think the thing is did Pac demand that Oscar come in at 145. *******s say NO but the evidence says YES. I offer as proof Roach saying on Friday night fights that he wouldnt allow Manny to fight if Oscar was a pound over 145, and the fact that Oscar was asked in an interveiw which I posted before the fight here on this site, about making 145 and Oscar said that he was eatting kangaroo meat and felt that he could make it easy. Oddly enough the magic 145 is also the weight that they asked Cotto to come in at and also the wieght that the Pac camp has said they would ask Clottey to come in at.

The thing is it being a catchweight fight wasnt a big deal before the fight, so not many made a fuss about it. However if you check past posts you will find that people did know and were talking about Oscar coming in at 145. I ask the question if people knew before Oscar weighed in that he was going to be 145 wouldnt you think that they asked him to come in at 145 being that Oscar hadnt been that low in almost 12 years before that fight, what would reasonably make one think that he chose to weigh in at 145.

What I don't understand is how did Oscar have IV marks on his arm if he only gained 2 lbs from the weigh-in to the fight. BULL****.

If Oscar really weighed 147 going into the fight that would mean that at the end of the fight he weighed something like 140. Cause even with the beating he took he still would've lost alot of water weight after 8 rounds.

I think the unofficial HBO scales were lies. They thought that Oscar would beat Pacquiao easy and wanted him to get more credit.

Oscar was slipping before that fight anyway -- the weight didn't help him. Sure he said he felt great, he always says that before a fight. Fighters have to believe they're in great shape to maintain confidence in their fights. If you take a look at Oscar in the weigh in, he looked sick. His eyes were blood shot, he looked pale faced and flat out looked unhealthy. Add Pac into this sequence and you get what happened that night.

With those IV marks, I don't believe he was rehydrating self with only salted water. He could have done blood doping and/or inject Dextrose into his system to give him more energy.

I can't believe none from NSAC raised this, then again, there was no blood test after the fight.

I had a feeling and said on the max boards that I thought this was a bad fight for Oscar.

141-147 is a Welterweight fight. 147 is the LIMIT of WW. Not all WW fights have to be fought at the limit.

How and why is this thread still alive? They compromised to meet at welterweight...that is not a catchweight bout. hopkins-hoya, pac-cotto, floyd-marquez: catchweights.

If a fighter weighs in under 147 it's a WW fight but if you are demanded to weigh in less than 147, it's a catch weight under WW.

A catch weight is 2 fighters one lower, one higher, meeting in between.

While this is technically true, its not really the case. If it was then there would be no such thing as a catchweight fight being that every pound would be included in a wieght.

    Heavy 201+
    Cruiser 176-200
    Lt heavy 169-175
    Supermiddle 161-168
    middle 155-160
    Jr middle 148-154
    welter 141-147
Jr welter 136-140 and so on.

What makes a catchweight is when one side demands that the other comes in at less in the limit. I believe and as I said the evidence shows that they did ask Oscar to come in at less then the limit, not to mention that Oscar wasnt even a welterweight to start with. Which is a point that *******s try to ignore altogether.

you can weigh in well below the limit for any fight there is NO MINIMUM those numbers are just alphabet soup numbers but still you can weight what you want below them

Vivian harris weighted in at 134lbs defending a 140lb title

This is not true - the limit for Oscar was 147. Do you really think Delahoya would have given in to any of Pac's requests? He held the chips in that one.
