i like Hatton it would pretty cool for him to be like a SMW version of James Toney - Like Toney is at heavyweight. Just a really skilled fat guy schooling everyone in sight.
That's his problem though. It looks to have finally caught up with him. He looks slower and his punch resistance is terrible. He looks guant in the ring now not just at press-conferences. He needs to have an easy training camp for once. Not to stroll though, but to concentrate on his technique and game-plan rather than spending 8 weeks losing 35lbs of fat.
I thought that was Hatton in the crowd, wasn't entirely sure. I only looked quick and saw and there was no caption. Is he friends with Andy Murray?
This is rubbish. He's punch resistance has gone nowhere. What happens is as your level of competition goes up- you either rise to the occasion or you dont. Hatton spent the best part of his career beating up C level fighters. When you get put in with ATG's and cant make that huge gulf in class the result is you get knocked out. This is a guy that fights with his face and gets hit cleanly and often with punches he doesnt see coming. As for Hattons lifestyle taking its toll thats more hogwash. Hatton is one of the hardest working boxers in the game. That kid has never had trouble making 10 stone. Iv seen him as high as 200lbs but he always makes weight and works out like a trooper to get there. Granted there is likely to be some measure of wear and tear that will decrease his longevity, but that cannot not be measured accurately and his lack of longevity is more indicative of his style of boxing.
Truth. I saw Vargas up at dam near 250lbs may be more. Thats a guy that simply let himself go. He lost in excess of 100lbs when he fought Mayorga. Thats just nuts. And he still couldnt make 160.
Academic. Hattons style is what makes him a flawed fighter. Put him in with any live box puncher and he gets stood on his head. He spent the past part of his career avoiding box punchers. When he finally did fight one he chose a guy that had one foot in retirement.
The should start a website to keep track of how much weight he's losing, might build excitement for the fight.
Ive seen him in worse shape, but its hard to take the comeback talk seriously when he is in that state.
How the **** can that fat **** be a current world class fighter in the light divisions!!! It's hilarious. This is surely one of the stranger things i've seen in sport.
