What do you think about Erik Morales coming back?

What do you all think about it? Can he be a force in todays welterweight division? Also, I was wondering, how much would you guys say he is worth at this point? Is this comeback money-motivated? I heard that he had invested his money well but I don't know if this is true or not.

 

The guy is finished,hes just another example of an old fighter who thinks he still has it only to end up taking a beating from some journeyman or some up and coming fighter that finally convinces him that he doesnt have it anymore.

 

Roach was throwing his name around a few months back as a possible opponent for Khan.

Similar to Barrera, a finished boxer but a decent name on the resume.

 

i think it's unfortunate to be honest. morales is one of my favourite fighters of the last decade and deserves all the respect and dignity in the world, like his rival barrera. this comeback is needless and promoters allowing it should be shot

He should not bother,i hope he stays retired.

 

As long as he doesn't compete at a top level and fights the right opponents whats wrong with him doing what he loves, if he came to town fighting a 6 rounder vs a 2-15 guy guess what Ill be there for the chance to see him.

Against someone like Khan, no effing way, i dont even wanna see that

 

Not looking forward to it, I wish he stayed retired. I know that he is financially secure so he has no need to do this. As for how well he will do in his first fight, I think its a bit of damned if you do damned if you dont. If he does well he will want to fight more and better opponents and there are a lot of guys out there at 140 that are going to beat the **** out of him. So if he does win and does well he will keep stepping it up until someone does KO him again. On the other hand if he does bad then well I have to watch my favorite fighter struggle with someone he would have wiped the floor with in his prime.


I know he is still itching to fight JMM, and I dont want to see that. In their primes it would have been a very competitive fight but today you know who will win and likely very easily. It should have happened before but it didnt and Morales already has established his legacy and history will hold him in very high regards so he has nothing left to prove.

 

Hate it. Watching one of the fighters that brought me into this sport and watching him get beat by somebody who he would have destroyed in his prime is just not right. I really hope he doesn't get hurt and also hurt his legacy in the process as well.

 

I'd prefer him to stay retired.

He's had a HOF career, I haven't heard about money troubles, and he's been in a LOT of physically taxing bouts.

This probably will not end well.

 

He got his big break defeating Zaragoza, its too bad he didnt strive not to let it happen to him someday.

 

Yeah from what Ive read, he is was working managing the city recreation department and he donates back his salary as he doesnt need it. He also did that beer commercial with Manny Pacquaio so as far as I know he is financially sound.

 

well nobody knows erik better than erik if he thinks he's still got it then he deserves the opportunity to prove it for everything he gave to this sport. and we'll find out in march he fighting jose alfaro who's no walk over. maybe he dominates alfaro maybe alfaro dominates him we'll see.

they said big george couldnt do it and we all know wat kind of warrior erik is maybe the 2 year layoff did him some good

 

I was hoping he'd become a trainer instead if he wants to stay active in the sport. THere's nothing much to prove and he'll just be getting his head busted so some up-and commers can brag that they beat 'el terible'.

I blame this 'longevity quests' on Rocky Balboa.

 

I think its a bit of a pitty that such a great fighter who gave it is all feels like he needs to comeback. I feel even worst if he actually does need it.
