    7-8.5

He took punches from some bombers like Tyson, Ruddock, Tua and Vitali and still kept coming. He was KO'd on one punch twice but in the HW division everyone has power and anyone can knock out anyone.

In all fairness the punches Joe took aren't comparable to the 2 Lewis took.

I usually don't comment about Lewis's chin since I'm in the minority. I'll just say that all the shots that knocked down Ali, Frazier, Foreman and Holmes I don't believe would have had much of an effect on Lewis. I just shake my head whenever someone says he had a glass chin.

Anyway, relative to his weight I'd give Lewis's chin a 7 or 8.

I don't see why anyone can give any less than an 8. Even a 9 isn't unreasonable when you watch that 'iron chin' youtube vid.

What is strange is how often people talk about his 'glass jaw' until this thread comes up. Its easy to bring it up in a h2h comparison, but where are these people now??

Lewis ego was a greater danger for him. I'd say 6. Lewis, like most heavyweights was vulnerable to top punchers. Although he was only stopped twice, both were from one punch without taking much punishment in the fight.

Other times Lewis was rocked and in danger, but his survival skills and experienced bailed him out.

He may be slightly over-rated, but come on. Size, strength, power, precision, good mobility for a man his size, good speed for a hand his size, intelligence, an ability to box or trade, to fight inside or out, and his chin rarely let him down even though he faced the likes of Klitschko, Tyson, Morrison, Ruddock, Mercer, Bruno, Briggs etc.

    Why so low?

I think there's enough evidence from just watching the video posted to give him more than a 6.

I don't think he could have achieved what he did and make it into most peopled top 10 heavies with a just over average chin.

How is he so overrated then? You say yourself you put a lot of emphasis on H2H.

Put it this way-Heavyweight is more deep than Strawweight. and you say there are 'alot of ATG heavys' you'd pick Lennox to beat.

    So how is he overrated?

Jack Johnson is the most overrated Heavy IMO, at least from an aesthetic point of view; his 'amazing defence' seems to comprise of holding people until they get tired.
