****in' "Sweet Pea" Whitaker had more fights and all, but Raymond Leonard was more so the "Complete" package.......... SRL had charisma; Whitaker was bland / dull...... SRL had speed, savvy & power; Whitaker had speed and savvy too, but he couldn't bust an egg over a kitchen sink.... SRL captured super-stardom; while only serious boxing fans knew who Pernell Whitaker ever was........ Sorry, but SRL smokes Whitaker in just about every outlet available.........

However, I'd say that leonard would beat him in an actual encounter. It's simply a case of the great big fighter beating the great little fighter.

Sorry, but the reason for Leonard's downfall was due to the tenacity, drive, competitiveness, and speed of Norris

    It was all Norris

After all, Ray had gone 11 yrs without a loss and was perfect in his last fight only being hit once

I think Ray. Ray Leonard fought 4 ATG fighters and beat them all. Pernell was great, but he did not beat that level or that many. Not many fighters have actually. Ray was lucky he had them all to fight.

I should have rated them in the 2 categories. I just rated who I thought was greater. On number one resume Leonard fought the 4 greats but he had only 40 fights, yet he did fight Kalule and Lalonde as warmups. Overall skill? Different factors. Ray had better power and ability to know when to pore it on and win a fight, but Pernell was better defensively I think. I would say Ray beats Pernell on both of them.

:deal I agree with this, except i have them just inside my top 10. In a HTH matchup I like Leonard i think his style is probably one of the only styles that would beat a pernell Whittaker.
