And I'll say that the shots that KOed him wouldn't have KOed any of the fighters you mentioned. Perhaps Holmes

Ali took a full fledged shot from Shavers and didn't go down.

I think Holmes would have been dropped by Rahman's right hand much like he was against Shavers, Snipes, yet gets up by a miracle and rallies to win.

Watch old Holmes vs McCall, he is hit by similar counter right hands that Lewis was dropped with but he doesn't go down.

I say Lewis's "chin" was about a solid 7. He was never going to make a career out of taking punches on the chin, certainly.

a solid 7.5 in my opnion he hadn't the greatest chin ever but it was a good solid chin for a heavyweight.

The exact same number that KEPT Lennox down :yep

EDIT just rewatched Lennox-Rahman and Lennox was getting up at 7 despite being pretty much out and the ref stopped it, so he wasnt kept down at all

I dont think Lewis had a bad chin but like a lot of big fighters his recovery (recupritive power was not good) Lewis did not get hurt often but when he did he did not recover. Against McCall it was a clean shot but against Rahman he was stunned with the right but then hit again with the same punch. Lewis had a good chin his rebound, once he was down was poor. Lewis never got off the floor to win but then again neither did Mike Tyson

    I'm comfortable saying it's about a 7.5.

Not the best, but certainly better than his detractors claim it to be.

I'd like to chip in and note that while a lot of people look to his resume for the huge punchers and note how they didn't down him, it's not as simple as that.

Tyson was nearly two DECADES after his prime. Let's be real here, he was a shell of his former self.

Ruddock practially did no training for their fight, as he was going through a world of professional and personal difficulties at the time.

Tua had to leap and reach so much due to the height and reach difference that his punches were nothing like those that he landed on shorter opponents.

Other opponents, like Mason, were on their way out of the sport too.

    Just for thought.

You're right. Holmes had terrific recovery powers. I guess none would've.

    Heres some points

    Tyson was younger than Lewis

Rudduck was considered no1 in the world by many and looked as good as ever coming into the bout

Tua is arguably the hardest hitter of all time and hit him clean

Mason was on his way out of the sport because Lennox gave him a career ending injury

Could Ali have gotten up from Cooper's left?
