This isn't a hate thread, I just got finished re-watching Erik Morales vs Manny Pacquiao I. Masterful performance from Erik, but I couldn't help notice how Manny didn't give his opponent any credit whatsoever at the end of the fight. "...The gloves were too big" "...If maybe the cut didn't happen, I knock him out" And of course, in addition to this was him then coming up with the excuse about the blood being drawn. I have no problem with fighters making excuses. It makes sense to me, I get it. These are winners, warriors and very proud, it's difficult for them to accept they got beat by the better man on the night. However, we seem to brush it under the rug with this guy. "I wore the wrong socks" Is pretty much all Manny had to say after the draw with Juan Manuel Marquez. The booking gigs after a fight has always been a little bit disrespectful in my opinion, also. How humble is Manny Pacquiao really?
Every big athlete has to have an ego. They either are humble and poor or act humble and rich. Every athlete does this. Oops... except RJJ/Mayweather type.
I think there is a difference between being humble and just being a sore loser. Obviously Pac is the kind of guy who wont throw a victory in a guys face to much or let his head get to big. Then however he loses or in the 1st JMM fights case its a draw and its a laundry list of excuses and pathetic excuses at that. Its very rare a guy is ever truely gracious in defeat I think Mosley maybe the best at that. I as an athlete understand when you lose you think back to everything that went wrong during the competition and in your preparation but show some class and leave it to things like " he was the better guy TONIGHT "
Pacquiao has an ego on par with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Pacquiao may be understated, but he genuinely believes himself to be a god of some sort. I have little doubt. His actions have never said anything otherwise.
yes, in some unusual way. pac came from very humble beginnings--being poor, etc. also, pac loves the spotlight. notice how he smiles a lot during ring entrances. this also accounts how he plans on going to showbusiness and politics. he also loves interviews, etc. he also doesn't do trash talking. he fights inside the ring, not outside.
Yeah obviously im biased towards Mosley but Cotto is such a class act in defeat after the Margarito news broke he handled that in a way very few boxers would.

Manny said during the press conference that "Im not a special fighter, just happen to get lucky" then Roach interrupted "No Manny you are special"..... It doesnt get any humble than that.... Even in the Philippines alone when Pac is interviewed by the local Media He always say i CANNOT GUARANTEE A VICTORY but I CAN GUARANTEE A GOOD FIGHT..... Is that not humble to you?
Pacquiao almost always give his best in his every single fight. He works hard in his every fight. I think a loss is something very difficult for him to accept. He did mentioned some possible causes of his losses but it's not to the point of disrespecting his winning opponent. Pacquiao did cried after he lost to Erik Morales.
He's got an ego now, he's definitely no Shane Mosley. He's a boxer/singer/movie star/politician/billiards and basketball player in the Philipines lol of course dude has an ego. I mean booking a concert before the fight, thats a bit presumptious lol. but no different than any other high-profile athlete out there
Manny's so damn humble and honorable that he only cheats on his wife when she's not around. What a piece of work.
